So Nia dissolves at her and Simon's wedding, pretty sad, though the explanation seems a little questionable: She's a part of the Anti-Spiral, and can't survive without it; but she's the daughter of the Spiral King, so shouldn't she just be completely in control of herself? I don't really understand the situation in the first place though, so whatever.
It really gets bad when Simon gives up all responsibility because "the younger generation needs to take his place" Why? He saved the entire population of Earth from death and the entire friggin' universe from tyranny, and he's only like, 21. Why can't he have something to do? Instead he walks off and never sees his friends again. They're mostly as old as or older than he is, but they get to be intergalactic ambassadors and such. Meanwhile, our hero just sort of wanders around aimlessly. It's bullshit.Being born of the spiral king was only a coincedence, the Anti-spirals have there genes inplanted in one person of each generation (I think) so it was very unlikely that such a history with the spirals would occure, but it did.
And Simon was never meant for any of that political crap, he was a digger and a warrior so it makes sense once all the fighting and digging comes to an end that he would quit.
Get it now?
Viral was a warrior too, but he still had a life at the end of it. Even disregarding that, Simon can't just keep in contact with his old allies? Even if he doesn't have anything else to do, can't he at least socialize? While I'm at it, why does Leeron look the same age in the future? I'm not so much making a fuss over that one, but it's weird.Elric Randall said:The ending was way bittersweet, but made sense, I think. Simon wasn't anything else but a warrior/hero at the end of the anime, and there's something heroic about riding into the sunset. The thing was, there wasn't much else for him to do. After the ultimate peace, what do you do with the soldier?Jezzy54 said:Gurren Lagann.

I think if the Spiral Nemesis could be defeated in giant robot combat, Simon would come out of retirement. It's really all he's good for.

I think Akira is probably the only thing I've seen which I declare the entire thing non-canon.D Bones said:Akira. What a mindfuck.
Well... I think of it at the same ending, jsut with two different faces. Thinking of it in that regard, I prefer EoE because it is more comprehensible to me.Generic Gamer said:Really? I actually prefer the original. EoE just upped the 'lolwut' past the level I could take but for some reason I actually enjoyed the original ending. I think I was just happy Shinji got closure though.Yureina said:NGE's original ending. Thankfully the EoE movie largely clears it up.
This, I was watching it with friends and they all told me what's meant to happen in the missing part at the end, the stuff that happens in the Manga.thefreeman0001 said:berserk!
dammit just when the fantasy arc was gonna begin!
Maybe I just like it because it is not the "ultra happy ending" typical of other shows, though this is also the case for my other personal favorite anime: Cowboy Bebop.Generic Gamer said:I just didn't like Shinji being such a wreck at the end, I legitimately felt sorry for the poor sod by the end of the series. He's what every kid from Gundam, every power ranger and every other child hero would actually be and I liked that he got his applause.Yureina said:Well... Also I got to the bit when they said "the Evangelion is now God" and I had to backtrack through the film to find out their logic on that one. I get it now but it's funny that for me the explanation film made things worse.
My taste in anime is rather limited. It basically only includes Eva, Bebop, and Ghost in the Shell. I like those enough, and I have never been too interested in looking around for new things.Generic Gamer said:Lalalala! Haven't finished that one yet!Yureina said:Maybe I just like it because it is not the "ultra happy ending" typical of other shows, though this is also the case for my other personal favorite anime: Cowboy Bebop.
To be honest I've noticed a lot of anime bottles the ending badly. Just the last episode loses it's shit a bit and everything gets tied up with a pretty little bow on top. I think my favourite ending is Trigun, you can kind of tell it's not a final ending, people aren't going to be terribly happy with what he's done but the story's over.
Gundam Seed was good too actually, it ended logically without doing that anime thing of trying to tie everything up at once.
Well, I guess you couldn't really blame Gainax for running out of budget.Yureina said:NGE's original ending. Thankfully the EoE movie largely clears it up.
Regarding Death NotePalademon said:Actually if you think about it there was a point to the ending. If L had won the fanboys wouldve had a rave at anyone who likes Kira, but since they both lose and by mostly eachother's causes, you never really end up with a problem of bias of who is right.SmartIdiot said:Death Note. After L died it turned to shit resulting in a wildly unimaginative and contrived ending.
