Skyrim can actually help me relax a bit. Sometimes it's nice to just casually play it and wonder about.

Other than that I usually play Blazblue against the computer or Dishwasher: Vampire smiles.

WH40K Space Marine gets my vote.

Nothing more stress relieving than smashing your thunder hammer into an Orks face. :3

The original Doom games if the need is for violence. WoW if the need for violence is not quite so great. Minecraft if I just need a bit of a wind down.

Kingdom Hearts II + maxed-out Final Form + Cerberus Cup = Bliss.

To explain: Final Form in KHII is game-breakingly powerful; can you say "Lightning-fast uber-combos that wreck the shit of everything that looks at you funny"? Or "Wipe a set of trash Heartless from the face of the World by jumping"!? Alas, it's balanced by the fact that it's hella expensive to activate and doesn't last very long. HOWEVER, in the Cerberus Cup, the rules are set up so you can spam Final Form. If you know what you're doing, you can have it last all the way 'till halfway through the final round! Y'know what that means? KILL ALL THE THINGS! IN TWO SECONDS FLAT!

Also, in this one obscure game on the Wii called The Last Story, the main character's SUPPOSED to be an upstanding, chivalrous knight, but there's absolutely nothing stopping you from trolling the hell out of everybody and anybody you see in the main town. Hell, there's at least one sidequest that encourages being a troll! Dropped banana peels, "accidentally" knocked-over fruit baskets, barging into people at full sprint, cheating on your girlfriend by picking up random chicks (with the option of being an absolute bellend), stealing from poor kids and running head-first into low-hanging shop signs. The combat's pretty dang cathartic as well; there is NO BETTER WAY to end a fight than to sweep your sword into the opponent's legs, knocking him horizontal and slamming his ass into the ground with your blade.. All in slow motion, of course.

Playing League of Legends with my favourite few characters cheers me up. Sure Irelia, Riven and Morgana are my mains for when I feel like owning the scrubs but Lux is just fun (Haaaa~ DEMACIA! *pew*) Ashe has the cross-map arrow of awesomeness and Lulu is adorable as hell.

And Orianna is crazy fun. Controlling The Ball just feels good. Get dunked AD Carry hiding in some random ass bush! I'm Orianna bitches, I don't need to facecheck dat shit!

Also Nocturne's ultimate. Nuff said.

Sometimes UMVC3, but knowing my luck i'll be put against 50 different people who have various different types of swag combos... And half of them are spamming Nova/Frank West. Hate that fucking team comp.

I quite like more peaceful games when I'm stressed. Harvest Moon is a good one, it makes me feel relaxed. Wind Waker, it isn't a peaceful game, but it lets me feel like I'm going on an adventure and that relaxes me. Animal Crossing is a nice game to play.

Though I do like violent games too when stressed. Dead Rising 2 is fun to play when stressed, just make that double sided chainsaw and kill everything in sight. GTA is good, just go on a killing spree then shoot down all the police who come at you, and their helicopters. Fallout 3, start a new game then go and blow up Megaton. League of Legends is great to play when stressed, just enjoy killing all the champions, turrets and minions! I love to play as Sivir, taking down minions, turrets and pushing forwards. Her ulti can make you unstoppable sometimes.

I actually prefer more 'peaceful' games for stress relief. As such, Minecraft, Civ 4, Tropico, Anno 1503, Rollercoaster Tycoon, and Sim City.
I totally agree. I usually play RPG's, going around talking to CPE's and a bit of grinding is quite a relaxed experience compared to playing more demanding action games depending on reflexes and sharp focus.

These games tend to cool me down. S4 league(also helps me focus) , Dynasty warriors, the world ends with you, temple run. Rhythm games do well too.

So yeah.

I personally use this for stress release.

BF3, but mainly because I seem to do better when I'm stressed out, tense - like it improves my reactions or something like that.

The ultimate stress relief game for me has to be Harvest Moon, well the GameCube version at least. That game is so chilled out, like the worst thing that can happen is some homeless guy steals an apple or 2 - it's a tranquil game, and it served me well during the most stressful period in my life, so it has a special place for me - even though I don't usually go for these games.

I do like to play GTA4 as well when stressed, usually just grab a motorbike and cruise around, hopefully finding a dirt bike and doing some stunts as well - it's a great distraction that game, so it's good for stress, and it's disposable too - like you can just mess around and die, and it won't ruin your game.

Prototype anyone? Essentially a game where your default weapon grants you the ability to slice entire crowds of people in half with one press of a button.

Wii Sports resort. Smacking those dummies with a plastic rod is just about the most satisfying and stress reliving thing around.

Until it gets wicked hard, then the stress comes back.

KILLING FLOOOOOOOOR!

No, seriously, Killing Floor is great for relieving stress, it is literally just about maiming down waves of enemies, works incredibly good if you want to just act out a bit and get to calm down.

> Can't believe not seeing Dynasty Warriors series in here.

That's answer enough right? I also used to play some Rock Band on Hard, but then my green button started acting up, then my xbox blew up, so now I'm sad.

I could do with setting up my PS2 again now ... most of the time if I'm stressed it's because of one game or another, at which point I just stop playing and browse the web.

Depends on the kind of stress.

"Bad day at the office, want to hurt my co-workers" angry kind of stress: Any kind of shooter or beat-em-up with a god mode and infinite ammo codes.

"Overwhelmed, life getting me down" kind of stress: Lego $INSERT_FRANCHISE_HERE.

These days, my main stress relief game is Orcs Must Die! and before that it was Blood Bowl. Must be something to do with the endless comedy and snark.

Oh, and Epic Battle Fantasy and spin-offs. That must be something to do with the music.
