Good games with NO replay value

Have you ever played a video game that you loved playing the first time and only the first time.

If so which video game was it and why couldn't you bring yourself to play it a second time?

Example: Heavy Rain, I looooved Heavy Rain. The excellent story telling kept me on the edge my seat the entire time BUT the super long beginning of the game plus always knowing who the killer is made replaying it impossible for me.

Assassin's Creed. The first one. I think it's an okay game, and I basically love just running all around the city without a care in the world, but I wouldn't want to replay through all of those shitty repetitive side-missions again.

Batman Arkham Asylum.

Or any heavily story driven game.

I've experienced it once... the surprise and the 'new game flair' has gone. It's a shame :/

Except Metro 2033... god I love that game.

Heavy rain, Had just the killer changed by how you played the game...
That was a huge disapointment.

Alan Wake is another. Infact any survival horror type game is. Once you know the monster is around the corner it loses its appeal.

If there is one good game I have to pick, it has to be Grandia 2. There are virtually no sidequests or anything, but the gameplay and the story was awesome. I just hope they bring back that series soon... :(

Definitely Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's an amazing game, but once you've beaten it, you're pretty much done. This is reinforced particularly forcefully by the fact that none of the game's enemies respawn, so even if you do choose to stray off the beaten path, there really isn't anything for you to do.

Heavy Rain or Alan Wake for me. Once you have solved the mystery, it's hard to pick it up again.

I have this problem reading/watching mysteries, too. I loved The Usual Suspects, but after the first time, it's just so hard to watch it again.

However, Fight Club, is a movie that I could watch a hundred times. Even though it has a twist, there is just something about it. 12 Monkeys, same thing. They made twists re-watchable.

Personally I don't think Yakuza 3 has a good replay value, despite being a good game.
The story in Yakuza 3 was awesome, like straight out of an anime (Which might have something to do with the fact that it's JAPANESE...mostly).

After you beat the game, you get to play it again with all the mvoes you learned and keep the cash and all that good stuff. But it's not really enough to me at least.

Any of the Ace Attorney games.
I replayed through the first one, thinking that I would have forgotten all the answers...I hadn't...

Also, Simpsons Hit and Run. First time through, it was hilarious, the sandbox was great to mess around in, and the missions had a decent level of challenge.
Playing it through now I realise the cutscenes are there for irritating padding, the sandbox is quite small and driving through it is actually pretty dull, and the missions are quite a bit easier than I remember...

Bioshock. Especially since it was soo easy.
damn, ninja'd lol
ninja'd my ninja'd...
Yeah Bioshock was a fantastic game and had a awesome story. BUT when you know the story and who all the mystery people are and the plot twists are ruined... then it was a horrible game. I guess it was because the game was very linear, and the way you played it the first go through was the way you wanted to play it(crossbow is ridiculous.) made it bad.
But to me Bioshock 2 had even less replay value.

Batman: Arkham Asylum. Once I'd finished the game, I spent a while wandering around searching for collectibles which got pretty boring fast. But when I started a second playthrough, it just seemed so... dull. All of the magic that made it such a great game was gone, and there were no surprises in the story.

12 Monkeys is more a cycle though, so it lends itself to repeated viewings because it all starts to make more sense. Genius film.
OT: Split/ Second: Once you've seen everything in the single player the element of surprise is gone.

Like you said, Heavy Rain.
I played it, I know who did it, it ain't gonna change, so why play again, especially after you get the "hollywood ending."

Pokemon games as well. I mean, why start over?

All visual novels I guess. Ace Attorney and Type-Moon games comes to mind.

Funny, Borderlands really shouldn't have replay value but I play it like crazy anyway. Maybe because I want a good Masher.
