Your missing the main point. This is not about remembering the begining of the liberation of Western Europe, oh no, this is about Google promoting a product of Communist Russia, dame reds
LISTEN TO ME. It's because they didn't use funnies. For explanation see my earlier post. Historical inaccuracies make me angry.xdiesp said:Actually the casualties were mainly from the US, as their artillery didn't clear the beaches as the UK did, so had to throw meat at the cannons until they were tired.poncho14 said:Must i say that half the troops in normandy were british/canadian.
Dude you're not the only guy with History channel.slykiwi said:LISTEN TO ME. It's because they didn't use funnies. For explanation see my earlier post. Historical inaccuracies make me angry.
They used only a few, these were mismanaged, and once again luck was against them. If they had taken up the Brits offer for tons more they would have done betterDarkside360 said:Um did you even read your article? It says right in there that we DID use them but not many made it to shore because of the heavy defenses.slykiwi said:http://www.geocities.com/britsatwar/funnies.html
"These were very useful on D day and if the Americans had not refused to use them on D-Day, they would not have had so many casualties on Omaha"

BLAM
Eat your words. EAT THEM!!
And I quote "Sadly, at Omaha beach, only a few of the DD tanks reached the beach as they were launched out of the landing craft too far offshore as the Coxswains of the landing craft feared that if they got too close to the beach, they would hit a mine or be attacked by German Artillery or machine gun fire."
Now I'm not saying they wouldn't have prevented loss. I'm just saying that the beach was heavily fortified and getting them there was very hard.
And let's face it, it's every person's duty to respect patriotism/religion.Malygris said:writer Drew Zahn, who said that Google has "a history of ignoring major American patriotic and religious holidays."
No, its just more 'anti American Patriotism' cause thats the stuff that gets shoved down our throats by the minority of the US. Being Anti American means that we would be against all of em, and from my memory, some of em are quite cool.Vrex360 said:Isn't everyone anti American now anyway?

But to the point, if we didnt have stupid, ignorant commanders in the Armed forces (any country) we would have much less remembrance days. (Gallipoli is a good example for another country.)
