Google Says "No" to Google Glass Porn Apps

So, whenever something like this happens, the other time that springs to mind being when that porn game was up on Greenlight and Valve took it down, there's always a set of people who are disappointed with the decision, which is fine. If you wanted porn on the things, this is disappointing.

But then there's always a subset of people who act like Google or Valve or whoever it is are just horrible people who shouldn't be allowed to reject stuff like this, which just baffles me. I mean, I have no objections to porn, but if a company doesn't want to sell porn, surely it shouldn't have to.

I see they're learning a lot at their branch in China.

Never heard of Glass, don't have any intention of using it. Especially not if it's as `white-picket-fences-and-polkadot-dresses` neurotically "clean" as it seems. Fuck Google and its censorship.
I know right! A company deciding what it wants on its own product, damn censorship! Google can do what they want with their product, they own it. Seems you weren't gonna buy it anyway so I'm sure you won't mind.

100% this. Porn is a reality and there is no good reason people who buy a device shouldnt be able to view it on said device. Personally i hope Googles attitude harms their sales.

In general, that's right. Problem with, say, Steam or the Apple Store, is that they are so big, their decisions have am impact on the market, much like Wal-Mart has been shaping the world of videogames for decades.

It's a delicate subject, and the question really should be: How big of a market share a company can have before they need to be accountable for their business decisions with regards to how the impact consumer freedom?

But just saying that probably has a lot of people scrambling to call me a commie, so.... Touchy subject.

Is it just me or is the whole thing about child pornography completely disconnected from the first part?
I think they just wanted to make themselves especially clear. Maybe some child porn apps popped up somewhere else in development and they got in trouble for it?
'Popped up'? How could that sort of thing just appear on a Google App store? I know the people who push child porn are already evil scum, but now they're also stupid enough to think that they won't get tracked down with every resource Google has and turned into the cops? Or was it just some morons making joke apps? Meh, whatever the case, it's pretty sad.

He he he "Root" he he he. God I love that word. From the classic Australian pick up line "Have you ever tripped over a stick? ...How about a root?" to the Puberty Blues classic "How do I look?" "Rootable" that simple little word keeps giving joy.

Captcha: leave britney alone... can you say root-rat?
Router? I barely know her! Yeah, I'm gonna go search around for root jokes now.

OT: Dang, I mean, this would be the most portable porn ever, you could literally watch porn in a lecture without anyone knowing it.

What? No porn? The only reason i wanted those was so that i could go to the bathroom without people looking at me with those judgy eyes when they see that i also take my smartphone.

That and masturbating in public transportation with proper stimuli, i mean imagination can only go so far... and most of the ladies there are so old...

Well i guess google's not getting my money.

Last time I checked, Glass runs on Android, so it should be able to run any app you want; you just might have to get it somewhere other than the Google Play app store, which is not difficult to do at all

Next article, "Cities ban Google Glass in public Restrooms". I will even petition my state government to do that. There might already be a law against cameras in restrooms. I am going to look into that.
There's already a large number of businesses that have said they don't want these silly looking glasses in their doors.

And according to this
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/10097688/Fifth-of-Britons-want-to-ban-Google-Glass.html
20% of British people want the thing completely banned.

This is like those scenarios in cartoons where there's a wall holding back a flood, and a leak starts coming through. The character (Google, in this case) plugs it up with a hand, but then there's another leak, and another one, and another one...until they run out of limbs to plug the holes. How long until there are so many porn apps that even Google can't do anything?

Dear google, why do you have to use cenrsorship for your fearmongering obsession agasint nudity? Why cant you provide a service that is acessible to more than "people that likes things we like"?

Also this app is nto what i expected. I expected an app that would apply on screen alterations to make women you look at nude (and men, okay?), but it seems to be merely a "share a photo" app that got advertised as porn app. i mean come on we could do that ever since we invented photos, and now your banning it?

Porn? What?...NO!!!! we have zero tolerance for child porn!!!1
Um what google?
porn != Child porn.
Anyway This kind of market closure is something I'd expect from Apple but not Google.
This decision in particular doesn't bother me but the closed-market attitude behind it is kind of disappointing.

Great, now if they would just say "No" to Google Glass before it financially cripples them...

On the other hand, as with the facial recognition thing, I can understand Google being wary of apps that "pornify" unwiling people. It's one thing for people to undress each other in their minds, it's another for an App to create an actual representation of said undressing without content.

Can't say there isn't some reason to worry.

I buy, sell and use a lot of phones and technology for a living. Though I have no extremist views, I feel immensely mature content is usually best left private be it violent or intimate. It would make me uncomfortable knowing that someone with glasses is seeing me naked. Many more people are paranoid and extremely more defensive.

With the paranoia everywhere concerning these glasses before any adult factors, it's no wonder they don't want to take any risks that could entirely topple the public opinion. From a sales point, it's best to play it safe and work/public friendly first. It's just part of trying to bring out a new product without horribly failing.
