What the fucks the point of this glasses thing if I can't even use it to look at my favourite creepy porn while I'm waiting at the bus stop then?
Just use your phone and masturbate in public like normal people.

Eh, whatever. Just wait for the portable version of Oculus Rift and Bikini Pirate Babes 3D Part 7 to come out. Google Glass will go the way of Betamax.

I see they're learning a lot at their branch in China.

Never heard of Glass, don't have any intention of using it. Especially not if it's as `white-picket-fences-and-polkadot-dresses` neurotically "clean" as it seems. Fuck Google and its censorship.
Congratulations. Not only did you manage to completely miss one of the most reported pieces of tech this year (how'd you do that?), you've also managed to completely misunderstand what "censorship" is, compared Google to a terrifying dictatorship and painted yourself into a HELL of a corner. Google's platform, Android, allows you to put ANYTHING you want on it and still be within the terms of use, which is better than can be said than Windows or iOS. The only thing Google did was remove the app from the official app store... which is what they, Apple and Google have done for years now.

The amount of completely misled and wrong comments in this thread is bordering between hilarious and dumbfounding.

It's amazing how many of you refuse to buy an electronic device that won't screw you.

Perhaps the Xbone will sell better than I thought.

Of all the cool potential this product has, you people are worried that you won't be able to download a porn app from the store? Good grief

That's quite an overstatement. I don't think censoring pornographic apps is anywhere near the levels of censorship China has. Comparing the two is downright insulting to anyone who lives under that kind of censorship.
For the most part I understand Google, it's their product, maybe it's not in their interest for people to run around with their glasses watching pornography.

Yeah, there you go Microsoft..... Make a similar, but inferior version of google glass, and allow porn, you will win. I mean it worked with VHS and Betamax.

Can someone please explain the Australian pun? Being an American it went right over my head (I know what rooting an OS is, I've done it before)

Check again. Although this article isn't clear on it, looking into the issue further, you can see that they changed their developer policy, not just store listing policy, which is far more restrictive than anything they ever did on Android.

After some reading up on this thing, they really want to be Apple. They've got the people working on driver-less cars and geolocation tracking working on it, they (apparently) are in control of the app store even though it uses an open source kernel, and they can disable the device remotely, rendering your purchase useless if you violate their terms of service.

Some countries have already pretty much made it illegal, and there's a lot of weird dytopian ways this can go if you're of the tinfoil order. If texting while driving is such a problem now, could you imagine this shit? I don't trust people to not look at Facebook using their field of vision while driving.

If you look at the documentation that comes with the dev kit, the words "Welcome to the new World" are apparently included. Like everyone's going to replace their smartphone and thousands of people walk around only seeing each other through the Internet itself, or at them over a layer of facial recognition and visual data. They could like, beam advertisements directly into your vision.

Granted, you can just take them the hell off, and nobody is forcing anyone to use it at any time, but it seems weird to me. I don't see the appeal at all, both fashionably and from a utility standpoint. I saw a "no Google glass" sign on the front of a business, I wonder how many people are going to end up wondering if they aren't supposed to be wearing their glasses for soem reason : )

But then there's always a subset of people who act like Google or Valve or whoever it is are just horrible people who shouldn't be allowed to reject stuff like this, which just baffles me. I mean, I have no objections to porn, but if a company doesn't want to sell porn, surely it shouldn't have to.
I don't really fancy the idea of people walking around with a small porn window open in the corner of their eye but at the same time I'm not a fan of Google being able to dictate content. I have the same issue with Apple rejecting controversial books on its app store. With Apple and Google devices their distribution platforms dominate their devices and being refused access there can mean no access at all on that device, whether it's a porn app or a book on gender issues with a penis on the cover.

If Valve says no to a porn game but you want it you can still go to the company's website and download it or maybe there are other distributors that have it. That's fine, a company should have control over what they sell; but if Microsoft said 'no you can't run porn on your Windows PC, it's icky' that is a huge problem.

Does this actually block unofficial apps from private circulation?

I can't get a straight answer either way, but my guess is "no, not really".

Google Says "No" to Google Glass Porn Apps
"Sexually Explicit Material: We don't allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material. Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography. If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution."
Wouldn't it be better to change this to "Google has a zero-tolerance policy against illegal pornography."? CP may be the worst of the worst, but it is not the only form of porn that has been outlawed.

"root" is slang for sex in Australia.

Interesting, I wonder if Google remembers why Beta Max format lost to VHS...preetty much because Beta Max refused to alow pornography on the Beta Max format, VHS was ok with porn and because of that VHS came out on top...
