I didn't think it was that bad in all honesty. There was some pretty annoying flaws. Some of the voice acting was just down right awful, such as the witch who honestly made me want to rip my ears out. There was some weird graphical issues where wandering NPC's will walk through the NPC who you are talking to, which actually if anything made me laugh rather than get annoyed. There isn't any internal AA on the PC version either which frustrates me to no end. Hate games without AA. However, the actual gameplay was alright, and the story doesn't seem terrible either. The graphics are really nice if you can manage to ignore the jagged edges also. I don't think I'd pay full price for it, but I think I'll probably pick it up when it's cheaper, possibly.

I guess JoWood went the EA route to spoil good franchises.
EA butchered Command & Conquer .
JoWood butchered Gothic.
I really wish there was a law forcing companies to stay a certain size.

Gothic 4 SUCKS !!!

It's unworthy of claiming the Gothic name.

The learning point system was thrown out the window.
Combat is a joke - monsters launch a signal flare to warn you to dodge attacks and your character is more like something from the Matrix.
Weapons no longer need strength or dexterity , armor is just armor - no special resistance to magic or piercing attacks.

Graphics are good , I admit that much.

Honestly , this game is on the same level as Divinity 2.How the mighty have fallen.

Sorry for the bile but I HAD to get that out of my system.

Wait for Risen 2 , let's hope that's good.

PS : The Wolves and their teeth seem stolen from Risen graphics.

Whats hilarious is the ass holes making the game think their doing a good thing by watering down everything...hate them so much.

Well, I actually enjoyed the demo once I got into it.
And while I'l probably get castrated for this, I was not a fan of Gothic 2, the only other one I played.

The Boars sound like the mutant dogs from Tiberian Sun.

And all the Goblin Shamans seem to say "ai Chiuaua" before casting a spell.

As soon as i got to the witch i just couldnt continue the voice acting was that bad, just totally over the top and downright annoying.
Also i found the lip syncing horrible as well and got stuck beacuse of invisible walls and roads.

If you wanna play a descent recent RPG try Risen, its not anything special but its miles better than Gothic 4 Arcania

well the game just finished downloading for me, loved Gothic 2 and 3, loved the 4 demo and will love this.

The guys that made Gothic 2 and 3 had a spat with the Publisher. They then left and decided to make Risen instead.

So, it'll probably be different from Gothic 2 and 3. If you like it doesn't matter, I just felt that the series you ran with should be corrected. Gothic 4 has a different developer and isn't really a continuance. Story-wise, yeah, but it's more like BioWare and Obsidian.

It's alright a very stock RPG what it is not however is a gothic game why they decided to not just name it Arcania and call it a day I have no idea.

Man, the game has horrible graphics, I enjoyed my time with it, but it's sooo bad. I loved my ps1, Crash bandicoot and spyro come to mind as games with better graphics. I don't mean to make this thread all about graphics, and.. erm the ps1, what did you guys think of the game?

But in all seriousness the graphics are much much better then PS1 graphics, you know right?

The game sucks.
Well, not really suck. It's kinda just nothing.

Combat can be successfully completed by left click constantly. you dont even have to watch the screen.

There is pretty much a single quest line, which literally leads you down a path.

This is nothing like the other Gothics, or Risen. And with good reason, the people who made them didn't make this POS
