I now guys who only play FPSs and such, but they've never really called other games "gay." Unless they just don't like the game; but I have games like that too.
Starting?? I believe that ship has already sailed. We fight over what consoles we like. We fight over what games we like claiming our opinion is the only one. We bash each other over everything. Calling the entire gaming community a bunch of homophobic racists disguised as pointing fingers at one console or another. We have a single bad experience online and instead of claiming it an isolated experience we insist it must be everybody. It must be the game. It must be anything other than us. We need Jack Thompson back. At least he gave us a target to shoot at other than each other.xmetatr0nx said:Youve got to be kidding right, now there is another new label? This is fucking ridiculous. Regardless of the game you play, youre still a gamer. Enough of this stupid crap already, stop trying to segregate gamers because you dont agree with what they do outside of gaming. These stupid labels are starting to border on plain discrimination.
Same here man.AlexTheBucket2112 said:I hate 'em too. I fell your pain. Just because its not an FPS its not gay. I have problems similar to this.
This man speaks the truth. Listen to him.xxhazyshadowsxx said:What do you define as a "True" gamer?
If they own a game console/Machine, and partake in the hobby, then they ARE gamers.
I would simply like to reiderate what I said before when this kind of question came up. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.129416#comment_form]xxhazyshadowsxx said:What do you define as a "True" gamer?

And just for the record, Creativity isn't JUST defunct because of "Gramers." For publishers, going with a generic FPS is probably going to be the more profitable and safer decision, rather than agreeing to publish a wacky and creative game with alot of heart. I mean, look at Psychonauts. In my opinion, it was an excellent game. Very creative, with alot of heart. Took Tim Schaffer quite a while to find a publisher for it. And what happened?
The game then sold horribly, and Majesco was financially screwed.
From a CEO's perspective, Safer is the better option. If they know something will sell well, they will keep pumping them out there. And let's not forget that one of a companies biggest priorities is to keep itself alive.
And finally: It's all for the purpose of fun. They like it, so let them like it! They can have their opinions, and you can have yours.

Yeah see, "gamer" is kind of a general term. And as much as hardcore people would like to keep casual people out of that distinction, there really isn't anyway for them to stop casual people from jumping the fence, so to speak. However, the more and more people discuss this topic, the closer we get to having a hierarchy in the "gamer" world, a tier system if you will. And to take things to that level I feel betrays the number one rule of any "gamer", which is to have fun.
I haven't heard the term before either, but I know people who can be described as "gramer."wrecker77 said:first time I am hearing of this term. Cant say I know anybody like that.
The term was started by the internet series "NameTags" on ScrewAttack.Drakmeire said:hey I didn't start the word Gramer heres the urban dictionary definition
