SO many of these responeses are, "I don't care, not for me, game will dissapoint". If you don't like it fine, but no need to flood the post with you not caring.
Agreed, some of us do care, and while it's your opinion and it's your right to have it, it seems kinda pointless to post a response to something you don't apreciate just to say that you don't.

Alright:

How much can you really do with racing games?

I can understand Alan Wake taking so long, and Mafia 2 to an extent, but all I've heard about why it was held back was his OCD.
A lot. There's a big difference between "decent" realism and "Every car behaves just like its' real world counterpart" realism. Sure, his OCD probably has something to do with it, but if they really wanted to fine tune everything I can see why it would take time. For people like my father who are hardcore racing sim players, the details are what makes or breaks the games. If you don't get the difference between gravel and snow drifting just right, they'll be complaining about the game forever.

Hate to break it to you guys...but it will totally disappoint
Of course.

And what a BSing asshole.
"He compared it to the Apollo Space Program - which put the first men on the moon in 1969 - in terms of the complexity of the project and the number of challenges along the way."
Haha, nobody told these guys they were making a racing sim. The Forza guys cranked 2 versions of the game way before it took the GT guys to finish one game.

Lots of rumors going about on to some of the reasons its been delayed as often and as for as long as it has (including PS3 forcing some changes). But its bout time... I am really looking forward to it.

As to the "its dull" comments: its your right to think that but for some people (i.e. me) appreciate the level of detail and accuracy that goes into the game and the realistic feeling it creates. In a racing game I find it more enthralling for it to handle like a real car on a real track then making up physics so its easier.

How is everyone else just not amazed at how horribly the production of this game has gone?

Seriously. They released the "Prologue" over two years ago, with absolutely no announcement of when the final game would be done. Then, a bunch of copies of the game got leaked.

And now, they're actually setting the final release date less than two weeks from when they announced it?

I just don't understand how everything has gone so wrong in the making of this game. I've never really been into Gran Turismo to begin with, but it's phenomenal how many times they've screwed this up already.

Most games' release dates are announced at least two or three months beforehand. This one just sounds like they're trying to get this project out the door, and they honestly don't really care if you play it or not.

I wouldn't call it "racing into stores" when the development cycle took this long ;)

It's 'your' not caring, not 'you' not caring. I like that about English, it's original.

It's fun to bash GT5 after being laughed at with Tourist Trophy and enjoying Forza so much more now.
First of all "you" is a second person personal pronoun. Therefore I can use it in the sentence " 'you' not caring" because I chose to specifically direct the point to anyone who read my statement. I like that about English. It breaks it's own rules contstantly and people like you don't realize that.

Also, if bashing a game on an online forum is "fun", that must be a sad train of thought you have. Especially is the only reason you're doing sois because you like another game better. All you've really done is make yourself look silly.

You apparently don't know much about Gran Turismo. This game is a bit more complex than "This car can go this fast, but that car has better acceleration."

Alright, you can go on forever with taking into account the weight of fuel or whatever and how that factors into the speed of the car, etc. etc. etc.

But come on, there comes a point where it needs to be released - it's not going to run through several iterations of game types like AW did during development.

I admit I don't know much about the features of GT5, but I struggle to see how it's going to be revolutionary to the genre. Forza 3 already did amazing things with customization and community centred features, as well it it being a fantastic racing sim.

The way I see it, GT5 is going to be a decent, incredibly pretty racing sim, not the revolution they're saying it'll be and probably not reflecting the amount of dev time that's gone into it. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

*clears throat* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Finally! It's been a very long time coming, haven't played a good racing game since Forza 2, looking forward to this, and only just over a week away, lovely stuff.
You didn't play Forza 3?

I tried the demo and really didn't like it, so I didn't bother picking it up. I assumed it did a Project Gotham and had simply deteriorated.

It seems there are a lot of people who have never waited for a Gran Turismo game before.

Just a little FYI: GT games are always late.

Hopefully KY put in a real tire physics model this time.

Well I have great news, you can now pick it up for a 3rd of the release price and it is worth the release price.

i played through every race in Forza 2 and when 3 was released I played it avidly and it as good if not better.

The rewind function does tend to make the game a little easy but you can ignore the feature completely, it is primarily there for sim driving first timers who need to get used to braking for corners and gently breaking and gently accelerating into and out of corners respectively.

For sim racing veterans you ignore the feature and is not only the same style as the 2 it has better tracks, better customisation and better car models. Trust me if you liked Forza 2 you'll love 3!

Buy it and get back to me on your findings, i'm certain they'll be positive

Hmmm, I must admit that the rewind was one of my pet peeves. One question though, did they add weather to it? It was the one thing I thought 2 lacked.

It doesn't have weather but you don't notice it, trust me, would I lie to you
