Can anyone recommend some good Graphic Novels? In particular, I'm looking for something dark and Gothic, like Van Helsing or something. Dunno, just a random itch.

Something Fantasy or Mythological would be great too, but really, I'll consider any recommendations.

I've read 300, Watchmen, and V for Vendetta, and I loved 300, liked Watchmen, and thought V for Vendetta was better as a movie than as a graphic novel.

Sin City maybe?

I haven't read it myself, but it was written by the same guy who wrote 300, and everyone I've talked to about it who has read it says it's quite good.

How closely does it follow the movie? I saw half of the movie and decided it wasn't quite for me.

Has Max Payne been released as a graphic novel? That would be sweet.

Neil Gaimon's "The Sandman" is the best graphic novel series I've come across. It may be the best out there.

Hmm, this isn't dark or gothic, but If you would be open to a good light-hearted american fantasy-comic epic, I thought "Bone" was really good.

but, like I said, not dark or gothic. But the main villain is really creepy, If that sells it to you...

Try Wanted. It has almost nothing to do with the movie.

It has a villain constructed of the feces from the 666 most evil men ever to live.

...Read it now.

MAUS. Amazing book. I'd also recommend The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I second Wanted. The Graphic Novel was so much better than the movie. I loved the villains and the jabs at the more popular superheroes.

I've only ever read Persepolis and Maus, but those two were very good. They're historical, but are very interesting; I'd suggest giving them a shot.

Bizenghast is very gothy & macabre, but a sence of humor pops up once & again.

Anything by Jhonen Vasquez.

"Sam & Max: Surfin the Highway" & "Makies" are worth a try.

Zenescope Entertainment's Grimm & Wonderland comics; gothy, bloody, & sexy.

Oh, Transmetropolitan is great, too. Spider Jerusalem is probably one of the coolest comics characters ever. He has a gun that makes people poop themselves. Violently. ^_^

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth is definitely worth a look at. Very graphic, incredibly dark, and violently psychological.

Also, I've just read some of the Cable and Deadpool comics (not quite graphic novels, but meh, its reading material!), they're worth a look at, purely for Deadpool's use of dialogue and breaking the 4th wall.

I haven't the foggiest, I haven't read it and nobody I know who's read it has seen it.

As has been mentioned Walking Dead and Wanted are both good choices. Kick-Ass is a good choice as well I liked it a lot more than the movie. The Dark Knight Returns is also a good choice. It's written by Frank Miller who also wrote 300. Some else mentioned Neil Gaiman's Sandman, I can't recommend that enough. Also as someone else mentioned. Anything by Jhonen Vasquez but definitely get his Johnny the Homicidal Maniac series but try and get the single issues as the trade doesn't include the meanwhile comics and they are hilarious.

Try High Moon. Gun slinging man-beast vs.... whatever the hell gets in his way.

Somebody suggested Sandman. This, absolutely. Also suggest Lucifer and 100 Bullets. Hellblazer is also awesome, but it's up to issue 260 or so, so that may be a bit daunting.

As for manga/manwha, I would suggest Berserk, Gantz and possibly Rebirth. I think those might fit your desires for dark, fantasy and mythological.

Seconded. Transmetropolitan is insanely awesome. It is set in a futuristic city where pretty much everything about society has gone horribly wrong. Onto the scene comes gonzo journalist Spider Jerusalem, on a quest to do what little he can to make the world a slightly better place. Not because he wants to, mind - his publisher forces him! 24 hours later, Spider has become a media sensation and gotten the government hell-bent on shutting him up. And so the fun begins...

Ahh, the bowel disruptor. Such a damn cool thing.
Along with Transmet, I suggest looking up The Goon by Eric Powell. It's sheer awesomeness.
And Legion brought Johnny the Homicidal Maniac to my attention. If you like twisted shit, get it.
