Somebody suggested Sandman. This, absolutely. Also suggest Lucifer and 100 Bullets. Hellblazer is also awesome, but it's up to issue 260 or so, so that may be a bit daunting.

As for manga/manwha, I would suggest Berserk, Gantz and possibly Rebirth. I think those might fit your desires for dark, fantasy and mythological.
Yeah, 100 Bullets surprised me. I liked it a lot. Very well paced story with great action and plot twists.

And yeah, I'm not a fan of manga or anime like most folks around here, so believe me when I say Gantz is the awesomest anime/manga I've ever read. And I only read it because it's published by Dark Horse Comics over here in the States. "Old Man" for the win. ^_^

Well I don't know about gothic but Berserk has the dark part covered.

...aaand twisted, sick, sadistic and disgusting parts covered too, sprinkled with bits of awesomeness. Why did I ever read that thing. D:

This is a list I posted in another thread. This list has no Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman in it, but I would recommend just about anything by those two authors.

The Dark Knight by Frank Miller
Y: The Last Man by Brian K Vaughan
Fables by Bill Willingham
Blacksad by Jaun Diaz Canales
Bone by Jeff Smith
The Hedge Knight by George R.R. Martin
Lucifer by Mike Carey
Fray by Joss Whedon
100 Bullets by Brian Azzarello
Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb
Batman: The Long Halloween by Tim Sale
Kingdom Come by Mark Waid

I shall stop. I could go on and on here...

if you could deal with it being a manga(i know it doesn't sound good but stick with it) i have ready many novels and have not found any as good as monster or 20th century boys. i cant describe them they both have excellent well pased stories deep and human like characters, great mysteries, and great story telling style. sorry for horrible grammar kinda late at night

Watchmen - simply great... even passed a copy to my parents to read, when I got wind of the movie production

Batman: Year One - one of my all-time favorite Batman stories

Mage: Hero Discovered - probably hard to come by, but one of my favorite Matt Wagner series

300 - if you've seen the movie, you've practically read the comics... but it's still a worthy read, and all the better if you liked the film

Can anyone recommend some good Graphic Novels? In particular, I'm looking for something dark and Gothic, like Van Helsing or something. Dunno, just a random itch.

Something Fantasy or Mythological would be great too, but really, I'll consider any recommendations.

I've read 300, Watchmen, and V for Vendetta, and I loved 300, liked Watchmen, and thought V for Vendetta was better as a movie than as a graphic novel.
There is and Amulet of Samarkand graphic novel coming, although I don't know how it's designed, I read the novel (the graphic novel is based on the text novel), and to be honest it's by far the best one I have read yet (in text novel category, it just has so much depth). So you may want to check it out, apparently it's going to be released in October.
There's also a graphic novel of The Divine Comedy (a.k.a. Dante's Inferno, but no, it's not from the game, it's form the poem itself), and I though it was well made. But you may think differently. I found it interesting since I'm an atheist, and it was very religious, so I found it fun.
Other than that I'm not sure of anything else, I don't read many graphic novels. I find it more interesting and fun text novels, but that's just me.

If you're looking for a great series too you should look into The Boys. It's a hilarious and very violent look at what super heroes would really be like. Imagine Paris Hilton, Johny Knoxville, or Martin Sheen with the power to destroy a city. Other good ones are Fable and Invincible.

The Coheed and Cambria Bag Online Adventures / Keyworks saga's pretty good in my opinion. Even if you don't like their music, the comic's worth a look at.
Failing that you might like the dead space novels or 30 days of night. I myself don't like 30 days of night, but the type of stuff you're looking for... pretty much ANY Dark Horse novel with satisfy your desire.
-edit- honestly the best graphic novel series for me would have to be the Alien Vs Predator series. Music of the Spears is probably my favourite comic of all time.

Seconding Bone and Maus.

Forwarding Road to Perdition, and On the Road.

The I am legend GN is also worthwhile, especially since it was published in 1991 and based off the book.

The Tin-Tin trade are all interesting; Concrete: Living Armor series is excellent reading.

DMZ series as well.

I dunno if you want to include one-shot comics/mini series too, but if you do, Superman: Red Son is a good read.

I'm just going to recommend Battle Chasers, done by my favorite artist, the guy who also made the art for Darksiders. It's fantasy, and fun, the story a bit cliche though...maybe.

I recommend the Courtney Crumrin series,
Transmetropolitan,
Anything by Garth Ennis or Alan Moore (especially The Pro, Preacher, his Hellblazer stories, and Hitman by the former, and Sage of the Swamp Thing, From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Batman: The Killing Joke by the Latter.)
The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman is possibly my favourite comic series of all time.
Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns is also well worth reading.
There's a few 2000AD titles that I can recommend: Necronauts, The Simping Detective and Flesh in particular, and Judge Dredd has some excellent stories too.
Marvel Zombies Vs The Army of Darkness is a guilty pleasure too- Ash from the Evil Dead films takes on the Marvel Zombies.
The 30 Days of Night series is another favourite too, as is Hellboy.

Hmm, this isn't dark or gothic, but If you would be open to a good light-hearted american fantasy-comic epic, I thought "Bone" was really good.

but, like I said, not dark or gothic. But the main villain is really creepy, If that sells it to you...
Bone is excellent.

Yesterday I read a really good one called Soul Kiss. You should check it out.

Try Wanted. It has almost nothing to do with the movie.

It has a villain constructed of the feces from the 666 most evil men ever to live.

...Read it now.
I agree that Grapic novel was..well graphic XD
