iam gona say Dark Messiah of might and magic.
it has the best first person melee combat system ever made period.
and throw that in with a meh story line and beautiful environments.

one of the games i enjoyed the most off its single player.

I agree, the story/plot/characters may be crap but it was fun and well balanced something games these days can not seem to do (BS and FO3)

Arx ftalis was good, Stone keep was excellent despite flaws, Clive bakers undying was great,Heavy metal FAAK 2 was decent,the 2 3rd person duke nukem games on the PSX were pretty fun flaws aside.

Unknown but awesome? Definitely Impossible Creatures.

Goddammit, Relic, why couldn't you have actually advertised that game when it came out? Then you would have had some real sales, and the community would still exist.

Also, fuck Windows Vista's inability to install mods for Impossible Creatures. Back when I could play online, Insect Invasion, Creatures of the Knight and Wide Open WERE Impossible Creatures.

Suikoden I, II and V - I've never spoken to a single person in any of the gaming spheres who knew about this game - save for those I got into.

We're kinda the Scottish Suikoden Appreciation Society lol

...seriously, play V, you'll find something to like at first and something to love once your into it.

Yeah, spartan was really good fun, one of my favorite PS2 games (although I would say the same for atleast another 30 games on that system.)

My under-rated game would have to be Sky Odyssey on the PS2, one of the best flying games ever made and yet it never gets mentioned.

Lego Island Xtreme Stunts.
It's a free-roaming Lego GTA-style game, with quite a lot of depth and variety, as well as pretty good composed-for-the-game pop songs.

Mount & Blade, and its stand alone expansion Mount & Blade Warband.

The original beta release of Mount & Blade was released by a Husband and Wife duo, as the game grew so did the development team to a staggering! ...6 people. That's right, they got 4 of their friends to help out.

Mount & Blade is about as oldschool as you can get, it plays out like a cross between Sid Meier's Pirates! Medieval: Total War and Oblivion.

Its an open world, Medieval (non fantasy) setting where you make a character, travel around the world, go on quests, build and train an army, trade, join factions and nations, wage war, seige castles, join Medieval style tournaments, loot & level up and has a Multiplayer scene that is very much akin to Jedi Knight Academy.

Otogi: Myth of Demons

I've said this many, many times but in all seriousness a great artistic hack and slash game that focussed on art, style and a feeling of legitimacy in a genre overrun with gore and titties. So yeah, I loved every second of it.

I'm going to run with saying Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Gamecube. It's really one of those games so unique you can not define yourself as a "hardcore gamer" (as opposed to a casual gamer) without giving it a swing. It relies on a concept that never had been used before and never will be used again at this rate (the sanity meter), it has a solid story, a fantastic collection of characters with varying weapons and stories without feeling over the top and is, in general, a very good game.

Star Wars: Republic Commando (Xbox) seems dated now but then it was amazing and could be again if someone gave it a graphics overhaul and a new story.

I am saying XIII I love this game and also Metal Gear Solid, most people didn't know about the series until MGS4 and it still not that well known at least it seems that way to me.

Honestly, Metro 2033. It had a tiny bit of hype before it game out, but it seems to have passed under the radar on video-game websites/magazines from what I've seen.

Everyone seems to have reviewed the console version bar PC-based magazines and, from what I understand, these versions don't fair too well on a technical level (resulting lower scores).

I hoped to pick it up on Steam but the European version had rather mysteriously disappeared from the store last time I checked.
