It's so hard to pass up Morgan Freeman and Christopher Lee on this one, but I'm gonna have to go with...Edward Norton.

Chuck Norris. He acts like hes saving people, but really hes just making sure theres another notch to put on his belt.

Or Jhonny Depp. He was the Bomb in "Secret Window".

Sean Connery in his not so finest hour
Yeah... no. Sorry Sean, not even you could make that look good.

OT: Not exactly an easy question, but I'm gonna have to go with... Gary Oldman. I think he may actually be the best actor in the world.

Though Johnny Depp is my favourite.

Morgan Freeman and Liam Neeson, simply because their voices are so awesome.
Damn ninja'd.

You could make a movie of one/both of them reading the NYC phone book, and it would be awesome.

At least a page without Will Smith? Hang your heads in shame.

Falls somewhere between Daniel Day-Lewis and Anthony Hopkins for me.

There are others who'll grab my attention, but those are the only two who can make me want to see a movie without looking at reviews in advance (and indeed are the only two THINGS that can make me want to see a movie without looking at reviews in advance).

EDIT: Liam Neeson and Viggo Mortenson are towards the top of the list for second-best, though. Will Smith, Denzel Washington, and Morgan Freeman are pretty much immediately below them to varying degrees.

for me its a trifecta of best actors

brian cox (he could read out the finance and stocks section of the paper and make it sound like an epic, rousing, scenery chewing speech), stephen fry (admit it, his voice does stange and magical things to you, and you enjoy it), and alan rickman (who could forget his roles as HANS GRUBER and the sherrif of notingham in robin hood:prince of thieves)

Johnny Depp. The guy's got massive range.
Really? Have you seen the Pirate movies, Alice in Wonderland, or perhaps Sweeny Todd? All horrible movies ruined further by the duo of Depp and Burton. Depp was once okay at best during his younger years of Scissor hands, and Whats eating gilbert grape. However you know your a bad actor when A young Leonardo DiCaprio can out act you in playing an Autistic kid. DiCaprio's role in that movie flexes more range then Depp has in his entire career.
