You seem to have a pretty high opinion of the character. You'll definitely enjoy his own series.LustFull0ne said:I've only ever noticed Lantern in the compilation comics. Crisis on Infinite Earths, and Kingdom Come. He's probably one of the top 10 coolest DC heroes.L1250 said:So Escapists, let's hear your thoughts. Do you read the comic? What do you think of it? Are you looking forward to the movie, or do you think it'll be terrible? Do you you have a favorite Lantern or storyline? Do you even know who the Green Lantern is? I'm interested in anything you have to contribute to a discussion, so... discuss.

As for the movie, it's looking pretty good. Hopefully Ryan Reynolds can pull off a character as serious as him.
Eh, most non-Batman superheroes (at least in my opinion) tend to only have something like 2-4 particularly noteworthy enemies, so I don't really see that big of a problem with the Green Lantern rogues gallery.Caligulove said:Yea, I like Green Lantern. One of DC's strongest characters.
A little weak in terms of enemies, aside from Sinestro. But the concept of GL has definitely changed from the better. Though it can be hard for someone to fully understand it when starting, since there are multiple Green Lanterns, different ages, one of them being magic, the others part of the Green Lantern Corps.
My favorite version of GL would probably be the alternate Hal Jordan from Superman: Red Son- where he's a Captain Miller, Apocalypse Now kind of Vietnam POW veteran, who honed his concentration and willpower during his time being held by Vietcong. During which, he would construct an elaborate mental prison where he oversaw and tortured the men who beat and tortured himself. Red Son is great by itself, but that was just a really interesting take on the character, I thought
I haven't. Other than that trade, my only real exposure to the character was through Justice League/ Justice Leauge Unlimited. So other then Sinestro Corps War volume 2, what Green Lantern trades would you recommend?L1250 said:Have you read any other stories? It's "beware my power" not fear. Sorry, my geek came through.Primus1985 said:I memorized the oath since I was a boy: In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let all those who worship evils might, fear my power, Green Lanterns Light!
It's all pretty good, but specifically I'd recommend the Sinestro Corps. War tie-in called Tales of the Sinestro Corps. if you want more info on the Corps., as well as Secret Origin, Rage of the Red Lanterns, and Agent Orange, which all lead up to the excellent Blackest Night.XJ-0461 said:I haven't. Personally I like "Fear my power" better.Quaxar said:It's "beware my power" not fear. And I really loved the Hal Jordan & Barry Allan (2nd Flash) crossover stories, some of them are astonishingly funny. Like the time when they go camping with their Golden Age equivalents. And the running gag of Barry always lending Hal money.
Of course GL alone is awesome too, don't get me wrong there.
