GTA VI: Return to Vice City or No?

OK so in GTA IV, Rockstar went back to Liberty City, and recently GTA V brought us back to Los Santos San Andreas.

So I was thinking maybe in GTA VI we'll be going back to Vice City?

However do you think Rockstar should explore other new places then returning to older settings?

I say let's give Vice City a shot, and hopefully Rockstar does a new location for GTA VII.

What do you think?

Yeah, perhaps. It's highly possible. Of course, they'll probably do a few "side-story" games after GTA V before they get to GTA VI, like they did with the games Vice City and San Andreas acting as a bridge between GTA III and GTA IV, and The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony acting as a bridge between GTA IV and GTA V.

But who knows, they might actually go with a completely new location for even GTA VI.

I still dream of flying between multiple locations. Head to the airport, buy a ticket and get to Vice City, Liberty City or San Andreas. I don't expect to manually fly over the entire country, just a loading screen would be fine and then show your character walking out the front of the airport.

Probably not a realistic dream but I would love that.

rockstar have stated that this is essentially there "end game" they basically want to make an interactive world and add new cities.

id personally like to see something a bit different such as a European city, america has been done too much now. GTA england would be kinda cool. they could have the main city in london then have a load of countryside (similar to what they did in GTA V) to represent the less populated areas. Paris could be kinda cool too

what about central/southern america, mexico and a few caribean islands could work. rio was already done in max payne and might work

I honestly think a revisit of San Fierro and/or Las Venturas are much more likely than Vice City. It is pretty noticeable that Rockstar's current vision is to provide social commentary to contemporary times. I think the only way Vice City would be successful would be yet another throwback to the 80's like the original, which I just don't see it happening. Let's face it, Miami isn't really a cultural centerpiece to USA (or world) anymore like NYC and LA are.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love another 80's throwback title, or maybe they can make Vice City work with a contemporary setpiece, but I just don't see it happening.

this would only work if they kept the heist theme from GTA V. some really big casino heists would be incredible is they had similar level design to GTA V

I agree that miami only worked in the 80s, i must admit id like to see another 80s vice city but i dont think rockstar would do justice to the original vice city. I also dont see the 80s setting working in the new "realistic GTA" the whole point of 80s miami was the excess and over the top ridiculousness

Vice City wasn't about the city itself. It was about that era, the 80s. You can't have another Vice City and make it relevant without going back in time. I'd like to see a GTA game set during the prohibition era. I'm tired of this modern stuff.

Oh my God... YES! That thought never occurred to me. If Rockstar wants to continue the heist mechanic into future titles, Las Venturas would be absolutely perfect. If executed well, Casino heists would be absolutely brilliant!

I think running a casino and clashing with other mafia casinos would be more fun. But heists would be welcome as well.

i initially wasnt keen on the idea of las venturas but as soon as you mentioned it, oceans eleven instantly came to mind

there is a lot of source material for vegas and the surrounding area. this forum and the interwebs in general were dissapointed that GTA didnt have a female lead, why not have 2 female leads and have a thelma and louise parody where it ends at the grand canyon.

The idea of london is growing on me too, despite the fact that guns are realitively non-existant in the UK i still think the atmosphere would be refreshing and again there is tons of criminal source material for london (snatch, lock stock, the cray twins, bronson and the list goes on and on). not to mention theres loads of key locations in london, if we are keeping the heist vibe going then there is no bigger heist than the crown fucking jewels. I dont know if anyone here agrees but stealing the crown jewels is a lot more exciting than robbing a casino

yeah it would be cool to set it in britain, but also kinda crap seeing as guns are not so easy to come by, police dont exactly walk around with machine guns (or even pistols for that matter)

I'm not too fussed about the actual city, but another GTA set in the 80's would be a blast. VROCK is still the best radio station in any sandbox game.

If they released games annually, I wouldn't mind, but no. Vice city is my least favorite out of the 3D universe. They could do something cool in Europe for a change. Or Africa, driving a taco truck off a pyramid.

The only other cities that really match the GTA style that aren't in America are big Asian cities like Hong Kong and Shanghai imo, and those have been done. Going back to Las Vegas or Vice City could be good for expansions, after all the GTA V engine is brand new and they're going to make a couple of games with it before coming out with GTA VI (like how GTA IV was used to make LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption).

They might need to opt for a new atmosphere if they plan on really mixing things up. I think Mexico City could be good if less opulent, having more of a focus on the lower rungs of society. I could envision epic narco wars and missions involving ancient ruins and lush forests. They could have a similar style game set in Africa too.

Europe would be tough to do as it seems like it would stylistically be too much of a departure from what GTA has become and probably wouldn't appeal to American audiences a whole lot. Not that Europe isn't interesting, just that it's imagery and attitude doesn't' invoke the kind of chaos that would keep Americans interested. I think a game set in London or Paris would have to be much more formal and intricate. Hollywood has trained us to envision Euro crime involving well planned out, high tech heists. A GTA set in Europe would have to have higher stakes with more over the top missions to keep it engaging, like stealing the Mona Lisa or the Crown Jewles or something. It could be the beginning of the fly to other cities (load other cities) mechanic that has been mentioned, with you moving from London to Paris to Berlin to Moscow slowly taking over Europe. Then in the next GTA they could return to the US and the Euro gang could team up (or fight against) the likes of Nico Bellic or Tommy Verceti.
But I'm getting myself a little too excited so I digress.

I always thaught a GTA: Europe would be cool. Start off in GTA London, drive to GTA Paris through the chunnel and basejump off the Effle Tower, than hop on a train to GTA Berlin and buy a beer and pretzel. Than, for DLC, get the ability to fly to GTA Italy and visit GTA Rome and GTA Venius.

Detroit might be cool with like a fallout feel to it, but I think I'd prefer a south coast setting: LA,TX,MS,FL, and Al.

Personally, I think if Rockstar were to expand to a new city, I think Washington DC would be the best fit. It is culturally unique with plenty of easily identifiable landmarks. Not to mention that it is the heart of American government and would be an easy backdrop for contemporary social commentary. Wouldn't be too far-fetched since the city and neighboring areas have some of the highest crime rates in the country (and that's not even counting the politicians!). I think Washington DC is the only other American city that is unique enough to cater to a global audience.

The only other US cities that might work, being unique, would be Dallas or Houston, Detroit, Chicago, maybe Seattle.

As much as I would love to see a return to Vice City, I'm still holding out for GTA: Moscow (not possible, I know).
