Another topic formed after playing Read Dead Redemption I know, however I never really had a forum to discuss on before it so shh =P

So I can't really say I remember many points of feeling guilt in games (I won't include interactions with other people, because these aren't exactly related to the game).. and certainly not much. So I'll say that this has probably been the most guilty I've felt in a game. Epic Spoilers:

Once you complete the game, there's another mission you can do at blackwater train station.. if you've missed this too then spoilers
You go to find that agent that killed your father, of which you visit his wife first then his brother before confronting him. I'd just finished the game and was pretty peeved off about what happened (pretty expected though), so after the discussions with the family members, I shot them in the head. However their calm discussions beforehand sunk in after each one, and though I felt it was a necessary revenge.. I felt pretty bad afterwards. Then the music kicked in and that added to it (it was also raining and dull). It definately seems set up to test your morality, otherwise they would've just stuck him in at the lake straight away.

So generally that's probably the number 1 guilt-ridden moment I've had. I think dragonage had a few bits as well, but sort of failed to me.
I decided to take the werewolves and slaughter the elves, I was grinning the whole time. And I felt I really needed the golems.

How about you guys? Has there been a game that's made you really guilty?

No.
But then again, I'm the type of player where I'd kill anyone I could.
After I went to Mexico in RDR, I went to each major town I was at before and killed everyone, and in a game like Fallout, I'd go into settlements and kill anyone, enjoying it almost as much as the actual game.

Ross? Ross' Family?

Bejesus they had so many bullet holes in them, not even their own dear Mama could recognise them. Those particular people I felt no guilt what-so-ever, it was pure and simple deserved revenge. Eye for an Eye what have you.

Other games have had some decision's where I generally felt guilty but I'm drawing a blank at the moment as I'm still thinking about re-playing that bit to watch his wife go flying from my shotgun.

I felt bad when I sent those alien maggots back to hell and saved the women of earth...wait...no I didnt.

I felt bad at the end of Army of Two The 40th day.
When I killed Rios to save the rest of the city.

Also the quest in Oblivion when you "join" the Blackwood Company...

I tend to feel guilty in WOW as a hunter when I abandon my pet for a more powerful one.

There it is, this nightsabre that has escorted me from the start of the game, fought so many battles alongside me, saved my life on numerous occasions, and I callously abandon it because That thing over there will be more useful.

I didnt read your RDR spoilers. Was hoping to complete the game this weekend. Somehow it's gone missing. Last I checked it was in the ps3, now it ain't So unless when I was drunk I hid it from myself, someone I live with stole it. Great...

The woman in Archive in Fallout 3 that helps you get the Declaration of Independence. She was the first person in the game that I actually grew somewhat attached to. The first one that actually felt like she was holding real conversation, but... I just couldn't save her. She caught a few bullets on the way back. *sob* *sob*

God of War 3. The entire thing made me feel like a horrible human being.

You destroy the world within four seconds, fight through hell and come out to destroy the world again, then again, and again, and the thing that makes it incredibly creepy is the fact that your friends keep on making you out to be a hero. You've destroyed the world!

And then there's Pandora going on and on about her father, that you killed, and you're just listening to her talk about her father and how sad she is about his condition... when you've successfully ended his condition with a quick snap of the neck.

That was a long one, and the whole game made me feel horrible about myself...

I've only played through inFamous as evil so far, so can't comment on the good storyline.
I was enjoying being the asshole, making the city my electro ***** slave. And then I was forced to choose between the innocent 5 people and Coles love, Trish. Being evil and selfish I chose Trish, screw the doctors! When I got up there and it was some random girl...
Trishs final words really made me feel guilty for being such a rotten dick to everyone.

I know that if I played through as good, she'd probably still die anyway. But those final words. Some good writin right there

Being bad in inFamous.

You cant stop Trish from dying, even when trying to save her, if you are evil she will die in your hands cursing you with her last breath.

EDIT: Fucking Ninjas.

Hmm. I don't have much guilt in playing Games but........ah yes. Dragin Age: Origins.
When yoou were given the choice to save, or destroy, the Hammer of The Void. My Logical side took over there and I saved it. I felt a Little bad, considering I saw the Broodmother and that CREEPY ass song moving up to it. But I reasobed it for the Greater Good. SO I got over it.

Yes, but not with killing, usually.

Anyway, in Oblivion, City Swimmer stole something and was being chased by guards, so just for fun I tossed a quick paralys in her direction. The guards then viscously hacked her to bits.

I was horrified.

The Dark Brotherhood quest in Oblivion where
You have to murder everyone in your local HQ just to find one spy. Made me angry too to find the spy wasn't there.

I felt bad killing the buffalo in Red Dead.

In alpha protocol I also felt pretty bad when
I let Madison die after romancing her and going after the boms instead. Until I played it through again and found out she will leave you if you save her or not anyway.

Its been a few years since oblivion, and I'd forgotten about that!

yeah I felt really bad aswell, since the dark brotherhood was the only guild were I actually liked my guild mates. The other guilds were just full of generic faceless nobodys, but each person in that safehouse had their own personality and quirks etc. Probably one of the best bits in the game.

I feel video game guilt in 2 flavors.

Flavor 1: When you use corrosive weaponry on the Crimson Lance in Borderlands, their screams haunt me.

Flavor 2: Being mean to squad mates in Mass Effect 2. It makes me feel guilty because most of them are nice.

I am immobilised by guilt in games, I just can't make the evil choices. Maybe on a third or fourth playthrough I can get a run up and then I usually just pick the worst things I can do in every situation... I might laugh heartily while I do it but still.
