Over on Joystiq.com they released a list of Guinness Top 50 games of all time. I feel its pretty accurate most of my favorite games of all time being on the list.

I can't stress it enough how Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, GTA III, Max Payne and Megaman not making the list Grinds my Gears.

Edit: Wow, I pissed off a few people with this comment. Simply meant I thought it was an arcade game, not a console game and therefore shouldn't be on this list. I do agree it's one of the best games of all time, now please let the hate mail stop.

Yeah, appart from Wii Sports all the games I've played on this list are incredible.

Not sure I agree w/ the order completely, but that's actually a lot more accurate (imo) than I would have thought.

That's a pretty good list, some classics some news, all fairly well thought out.

But they never say how they define 'greatest?' I'm guessing sales don't come into as there's plenty of awesome but low selling titles in there.

Either way, with GT, Crash and Starfox in their I'm happy.

I doubt they understand anything abotu games when they put the Orange Box in that list...The Orange Box is a collection of games not a game...

And GTA shows up 3 times in the list when their reason to put GTA so high is "Third runner up, Grand Theft Auto holds the record for the most controversial series of games." Oddly, GTA is represented two more times on the list by San Andreas (#16) and Vice City (#39). "

Also how come that FF12 is 12 spots ahead(how ironic) of FF7 wich was the FF that catapulted the franchise into massive popularity. Bioshock shouldnt be there when Systemshock 2 is better, guess the reason is that SS2 never got released for the consoles(?).

I like seeing ICO and Advanced Wars, maybe Shadow of the Colossus should be there too.

I wouldn't think that Final Fantasy XII would be above VII, plus I personally think VIII and VI were much better than XII.
Maybe it's up there because they tried a new(ish?) combat system.
This is just my opinion, since no ones list is ever going to be the same.

True. No matter how good, a sequel, even a spiritual one, is always worse. Just because it's a secret.

Maybe except for LotR 2 and Matrix 2.

I would rather see Team Fortress 2 instead of Halo.

The team said they picked Super Mario Kart for the top spot because it is the best-selling racer on the SNES, the GameCube and the DS. Tetris, a good choice for number two, was selected because it is available on at least 50 different gaming platforms. And Grand Theft Auto holds the record for the most controversial series of games.

They have a different list for PC games, but I doubt its published anywhere.

Agreed, I felt like XII was missing alot. I didn't want to play it. I pick it over X any day of the week but still. Balthier was Great and Hot Bunny Chick but thats it.

It was the only game people played for almost a year on the Wii. Right after Twilight Princess.
