guitar hero 5 or 3?

im looking at guitar hero games and i am wondering wether i should get number 5 or number 3. i was thinking 5 because it is newer, but i like the songs from 3 more... ideas?

Well, I owned 3 and enjoyed the play list, especially "Through the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce (never beat on anything higher then meduim) but seeing as I have never played 5, I can't really give a comparison.

Personally, I think you should go with Guitar Hero 3. In my mind, it's the last Guitar Hero game with any spirit; every game that succeeded it was a soulless cash cow.

Speaking of cash, do you really want to shell out more money for additional peripherals just so you can play a shinier Guitar hero game?

This. If you like the songs on 3 the best buy it. Although if my memory is correct there isn't full band for GH3, which can be a bit boring if only 2 of 3/4 buddies get to play.

There is no full band in Guitar Hero 3 and that sucks but the songlist is soo much better that 5 and it is GUITAR Hero after all, so really, choose what you like best.

Wht about Guitar Hero Smash hits? They have almost all the best old Guitar hero songs.

Look at the song lists for each game, and decide which would suit you better. End of story. Not really much to discuss here.

I'd say 3. Personally, I think the song list is better, mostly because 5 tries to appeal to too wide an audience, and ends up having a very small amount of songs you actually enjoy.

If you have a lot of buddies and want to play a full band, then 5 is your only option, but otherwise, go for 3.

I liked 5 more then 3. I just recently beat 5. It's pretty awesome.

5 > 2 > 1 > 3

I've played both, and recommend GH3 more than any other I've played (though Metallica comes close). The gameplay and songs are so much better in 3 than 5.

Why not give yourself a challenge and get the original, which is difficult without needing rediculous amounts of notes to hit. Plus its the most exclusively 'rock' of the series. But OT i suggest the 3rd one.

If you like the songs in 3 get it. Be warned though, it's the hardest GH game to date. It's crazy hard, not just because of Through The Fire and The Flames.
