It's been years since the old show .Hack//Sign aired on TV. I've recently been re-watching it as I've always enjoyed .Hack and adored Sign.
I'm not going to claim that it's perfect. The backdrops are amazing, but the character art seems a bit simple to me. The music is top-notch, but the dubbing, despite sounding fine, sort of glosses over a lot of mouth movement in favor of getting the lines out.
Even if it's not perfect, I think it's one of my favorite works of fiction of all time, and I don't say that lightly, putting it up there with the likes of War and Peace, Greek mythology, and any of the others of the number of classics I've gotten my hands on over the years. The rest of the .Hack universe can't touch it, and there's nearly nothing that's come out since in any medium or genre that I've found to work for me as it has (I suppose it should be noted that, to me, the most important aspect of story is character development).
What about you Escapists? Any fond, or not so fond, memories of the series?
