It's been years since the old show .Hack//Sign aired on TV. I've recently been re-watching it as I've always enjoyed .Hack and adored Sign.

I'm not going to claim that it's perfect. The backdrops are amazing, but the character art seems a bit simple to me. The music is top-notch, but the dubbing, despite sounding fine, sort of glosses over a lot of mouth movement in favor of getting the lines out.

Even if it's not perfect, I think it's one of my favorite works of fiction of all time, and I don't say that lightly, putting it up there with the likes of War and Peace, Greek mythology, and any of the others of the number of classics I've gotten my hands on over the years. The rest of the .Hack universe can't touch it, and there's nearly nothing that's come out since in any medium or genre that I've found to work for me as it has (I suppose it should be noted that, to me, the most important aspect of story is character development).

What about you Escapists? Any fond, or not so fond, memories of the series?

I quite liked the series, and never had an issue with the dub since I don't watch dubs. The music indeed was wonderful and the story was very well done, methinks. It was definitly a great anime.

Y'know, by all accounts, it's not really a good show, it's waaaayy too slow and is imfamous for focusing on tthings that should not be focused on. This is the same show that has a shot of Tsukasa's face for over a minute for no reason. I have a feeling they wanted to channel Evangelion but failed.

But I keep wanting to go back to it. It's sort of a fun watch regardless of the flaws.

It was ehhhh.

Started out ok, had some great music and Art but got wayyyyyyyy to boring.
It really slowed down too much.
And the final battle was just stupid.
But that's just my opinion.

Like I said, it's not perfect, but that's part of what I enjoy about it, I think. As for the speed of things, that's right up my alley. My favorite movie is the original Flight of the Phoenix which is a bunch of guys doing nothing in the desert for days. I could enjoy a five-hour film about a bunch of guys sitting in a room talking far more than one about an epic quest. I have little use for plot outside of entertainment value I live for character development.

I haven't actually watched it yet which is driving me crazy because I am a huge fan of the .Hack franchise. I watched a few episodes a while back and loved what I saw, the soundtrack was pretty damn good to.

I watched maybe two episodes a few years ago and I didn't really know what was going on. I've been tempted a few times to go back and see waht was actually happening though.

I rewatched it just recently actually. The music was pretty good and I liked the story, but it was very slow and kind of boring at some points.

I loved Signs, and it is definitely a series I plan on buying on dvd in the future. That being said, if you enjoy .Hack, the manga 1/2 Prince and Yureka are good as well, and are both about being in a MMORPG.

That was the first installment in the original series of games.

I have fond memories, what with Sora being Haseo from G.U. and what not. I still wonder what the fuck happened to the rest of the characters, like Kite, BlackRose, Tsukasa, Bear, Orca, and BT. Sora's there, but he's the only //sign character left. But I enjoyed the anime, if for it being the only coherent one.

Love this show! Watched it occasionally as a kid, and rediscovered it recently. It's a beatiful show, that manages an atherial beauty. The characters are great too. While it's slow I think this acts to make it different from other shows, and really stands out.

It also has a lot of subtlety, but still manages to capture a grand scope. Not perfect, but it's still my favourite anime of all time
