Man it's pretty depressing that I feel nothing at all over this info. I was the biggest half-life nerd since the first game. After episode 2 I was chomping at the bit to get ep3 and see how it all concluded, but after 4-5 years and all we have is a morsel of info I am way beyond caring how it ends.

I was cool with Valve taking their time to perfect games, but giving us nothing after this long is just plain unacceptable. It seems Valve would rather not release Ep3 or half-life 3 and instead make portal sequels and team fortress 2 hats.

Screw you Valve.
Same here, dude. I played the Orange Box back in Spring of 2008 and I fell in love with Half-Life 2. Then I played the episodes and, while One was okay, Two's end made my jaw drop to the floor! It was amazing ...

But after this length of time, that ending has no impact or relevance. I want the rumors to be true just so I can see the game come out in my lifetime. As for actually buying it? It would have to be super-fucking awesome for that to happen. Even if it's "Half-Life 3" instead of "Episode Three", VALVe would still have to show me that 4+ years of total silence was worth it.

Do you know that they did the same thing with Half-Life 2? It took them six years to release it and during four of those years they didn't say anything about it, just like now. Half-Life 2 still had a huge impact on the gaming world, so why not hl3?
Also, some people have this idea that Valve should only make Half-Life games. It's entierly normal that they want to try new and different things. So maybe they put hl on the back burner, that doesn't mean that they don't care.
They will eventually talk about Half-Life and they will eventually release it and there are some things happening which suggest that it will be soon.

Its simple we are getting half life 3 in 2019. Which is next week in valve time
Ah, a valve time joke ay? Remember when the TF2 team said they were going to release something big in a week and it took them 1 week to do it. Or when Portal 2 had a release date and was released then. Exactly, Valve is very good on keeping firm dates, but not so good when this could all be fanboy work.

I stopped caring about Half Life 3 like I did with Duke Nukem Forever, and the reason I don't care is because Half Life doesn't NEED to be a trilogy.

Half-Life has never been anything else than slightly above-average shooter, can't understand why everyone's so jolly about the series.

That argument makes no sense. Half Life fans need a sequel because they want to know what happened after the end of episode 2. The only reason they might be naming it Half Life 3 is because they aren't doing the episodic model anymore, and the next half life will probably be as long or longer than half life 2. So yes, half life does need to get a sequel, which will coincidently make it a trilogy.

People want closure. Can you blame them?

Ah, hell, so do I. I'm getting excited at the suggestion too. And I was never even that hyped for the series!

Smells like fresh baked troll to me...Valve is sitting on the most notable piece of vaporware left to gaming, for the time being, and that's something that's hard to get rid of.

I stopped caring about this long ago, honestly I think it's fake.
It's pretty sad how everyone seems to leap onto every little mention of half life 3 looking for clues that aren't there.

I'm just going to sit here and ignore all news to do with half life 3 until it comes up, I strongly suggest the rest of you do the same because this is just getting silly now, you're getting yourselves hyped over nothing @_@

But hey, that's my opinion you don't need to share it ^_^

Even though I agree, I'd be careful how you tread around these forums with that kind of language.

This is a list [https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time/] of every game Valve has released, when they said it was coming out, and when it actually came out. You might notice that almost every single one is later, including Portal 2, which was originally supposed to be released in the holiday season of 2010. That's over a year long delay! Valve is good for plenty, but not for releasing things on time.

Stop hyping it up, people. It's going to come out eventually, and it's going to be as good as or slightly worse than your favourite installment so far.

Yeah not a replacement but something that is taking time and resources away from them concentrating on the next Half Life.

I bet it's in development now they have finished Portal 2. I wouldn't be surprised if it's announced next year or the year after.

I know the co creator of Portal is now making a different game Quantum Conundrum (which looks awesome btw) So I have a feeling that they are now concentrating on a different product ie Half Life 3.
She actually left not too long after Portal 1 came out. Which was a shame, really.

I get the feeling that Valve has been working on Half-Life 3 for some time, but only with a small team. This is usually how they operate. Portal 2, for example, had a dedicated team of only twenty eight when they started. Closer to release, the team grew to help finish it out and add that extra layer of polish. As such, I think you're right. It's been such a long delay for Half-Life 3, at least partially, because their development resources are spread thin.

My thoughts exactly. If Valve is starting a new ARG, it's more likely the first clue is the hidden easter eggs in the new TF2 map CP_Foundry. There are two hidden rooms reachable only by noclipping, and only existing on one side of an otherwise symmetrical map. One's hidden behind a door labeled "Top Secret" and is guarded by a soldier. Inside there is a sequence of numbers printed on the wall. "1961" with "13 22 13" directly below. And, above those numbers is the number "12" hidden behind a steel cross-beam near the ceiling.

This other stuff so far, aside from "maybe" the shirt seems a bit too pedestrian and sloppy on Valve's part.
That's for something TF2-y. The pictures inside are of a Robot Heavy, Robot Demoman, looking through a gasmask and I don't know what the fourth is.

Anyway, since Robin Walker said that Meet the Pyro is going to be from Pyro's perspective, the secret thing on cp_Foundry is probably for Raid Mode and/or Meet the Pyro.
Oh, I know that the pictures are for a Team Fortress 2 reveal. That much is obvious. However, Valve has never been beyond combining hidden clues for several projects/reveals. Therefore, even though those number sequences are likely related to the photos, there is still the possibility they may pertain to something else. Maybe a release date, for example. After all, they have two big titles on the horizon. Dota 2 and CS:GO. Neither of which has a solid release date.

'Course, those number could also allude to a release date for the public betas of Dota2 or CS:GO. Or, they could have nothing to do with a date or time. Who knows? (besides the person that made the map over at Valve)

Sorry, had to edit this begging bit. What I infer happens after the ending is that they bury Alx's father and live on the edge of civilization, instead of contining to fight the Combine since its 2 of them vs 1000000s of them. Is there any real reason to continue where that left off? Because I'm sure most fans want to see Gordon and Alx kicking ass once again. I'd love to see a new hero step up to the plate.

This reminds me of the time Daft Punk put up a new website. You know what is shows? Their logo with a slight colour and shape modification. Nevertheless, fans began speculating what it could mean. It lead to them finding stuff about Thomas's house and his father, and some trolls pissing off angry and eager fanboys. They also started speculating if a date could mean something about their release. Because correlation=causation right?

What I'm trying to say is, don't raise your hopes unless they blatantly tell you that this is official. I'd love it if this was but I don't want people to be hyped up and let down. Because goddamn it, *looks at false Daft Punk fourth album sites and tour dates*, it hurts.

Personally I can't think of anything dumber than merging the worlds of "Portal" and "Half-Life". To say they're different in tone, content, just about everything really... that would be like saying that the sea bed is different to outer space. Beyond them both being first-person games involving guns that revolve around unusual physics, I don't see any kind of a comparison between the two.

I guess Valve have been doing this a lot longer than I have, but really... if the Portal connection is there (other than what Jessica said regarding Portal being the unofficial sequel to HL2 Ep 2), it seems like a horrible idea to me. What's next? Does the TF2 Heavy Weapons Guy make a cameo appearance?
