Like Counter-Strike, multiplayer means everything.

Edit: It's an average FPS at best though.

I thought it totally lived up to its hype. I loved Halo 3, way more than 2 or 1, this retro-love thing, it annoys me greatly.

I think it's not a bad game, not perfect obviously but the multiplayer is very very good

Campaign is not a good judge of what Halo is, it's all about the multiplayer, which, combined with the forge and some friends, is fucking awesome.

Oh, I almost forgot. Dear GOD use the search button!!!

Halo was original in some fashions, but two games later it was boring and repetitive. It's saving grace is multiplayer, which,I admit,is awsome, but there are games better, games with more ingenuity, games that actually bother to write an interesting storyline. That's what I hate the most about Halo, you are a Space Marine, except, your a lucky, yet weak Space Marine, you must kill those Xenos becuase their religion hates you, which is never developed very well.

I think it's wrong that Halo 3 is made awesome by its multiplayer only. To really be a good game, a game that offers a singleplayer storyline has to actually have a good singleplayer storyline.

I played Halo Wars on my buddies box...I'm not a fan. I'm not saying anything bad about it; it is a good game. I just think it would be better if it weren't Halo...Everyone has a right to be heard, and I right to their own opinion. So, here's mine. Halo was meant to be a shoot em up. I personally feel that Halo Wars could be better if it were not a Halo setting.

I think for a game to be great the singleplayer has to be compelling and have good replay value, Halo 3 doesn't deliver that.
I disagree with you there. I personally prefer single player games in general (with a few exceptions), but it's perfectly possible to have an excellent game that revolves around multiplayer. Left 4 Dead and Resistance 2 come to mind.

It was definitely not a bad game. If Halo wasn't a big brand name, few people would honestly say the game is terrible.

However it is definitely over rated. Most things these days are. As a result, people condemn the game for every flaw it has, just because it is popular.

Don't get me wrong, it does have flaws. However I don't think these flaws justify calling it a bad game. It's just that people condemn the game for its popularity.
Brother (or sister, I don't know you) you took the words right outta my mouth...see you on the battlefield...

The only thing I actually enjoyed doing in Halo 3 was playing Rocket Race online with a friend. We dominated.

Halo will always be the best game ever thanks to one thing.

4-player, guestable, SPLITSCREEN online. all at once.

you know what this means? this means that to play a laggless game of halo with 8 people, one needs only 2 tvs and 2 xboxes (with halo), and 8 friends.

in fact, one of my friends have a party with 15 other people, 3 people brought xboxes, + his one meant that with the 4 tvs in his house and 1 powerbar everybody was having a blast.

(and please, i know the wii can do this kind of stuff to, but we are talking about good fps games one can play in a cramped room.)

I only played it a few times at a friend's house. It wasn't great. Multiplayer can only be as good as it's participants and as a singleplayer game, it just didn't deliver.

Now that halo 3 is done i hope they give us some awesome Prequels
You mean like Halo Wars? (Except FPS's rather than RTS's obviously)

A good fun game, sure the story was nothing to write home about, but... The online is just great. If you've ever played it at a LAN you know what I mean.

lets pretend Halo wars in RTS form never happened, but yes like that, i find the whole time in the series very interesting, also playing a marine rather than a god might shake it up a bit

Halo was great when it first came out. But by the time the third one came out, it had become a seriously overrated fanchise.
There are so many people who say "it is the best game EVER!!!" I've played it and thought was good but there is no way it is the sole reason of the X-Box being better than the PS3.
(Please don't think I'm starting a Console War argument here with that statement)
