My jaw dropped. I put my head in my hands. I questioned why Bungie had to do this. I still cannot get over this new trilogy. I mean....no. No. I just can't believe this. This is awful. Don't get me wrong, it probably won't be a bad game, but there really is a time when you look at your work and say "Yes. It is complete. Let it be laid to rest as a part of the past, so we may move ahead." What if Michelangelo had gotten crazy with the idea of the Statue of David, and built him a wife, two kids and a nice little cottage? Yes, I realize the connection is slightly specious, but the same concept of knowing when to stop still holds.

...woo...

It's my opinion that the longer something drags on, the more overall quality drops, (I believe the same can be said for CoD, but then, I am one of those incredibly pretentious "I play for story" gamers.)
I remember when i still had positive things to say about the series, that time has long gone. I was incredibly relieved when Bungie said that Reach would be the last, but now look what's happening, what if George Lucas added a second Star Wars trilogy... oh wait... In conclusion, I'm not impressed.

Going by the logic that the Halo series has been in decline since 2 (yet with a slight rise from ODST to Reach, not that, that is saying much) I would expect this game to be the same as my reaction to it's trailer a resounding "meh... Ohhhh Skyrim."

I've kind of fallen off from gaming news in the past couple of months due to the current demands of not-completely-sucking-at-life, but I'd heard from a friend that 343 wasn't going to be doing a direct sequel. That it'd be from earlier parts in the Halo timeline.

Seeing the actual trailer, I guess I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm still completely stoked to be back with John and Cortana in their non-stop-alien-crushing-adventures, but I was looking forward to seeing the earlier parts of their story being told with a bit more finesse. Bungie did fantastic with the Halo games, but the one thing that always frustrated me was how terrible they did with getting the story across to the average player who didn't want to go buy 5 books in order to understand what was going on.

I'm still excited for a new Halo, but man. I feel like 343 should've started off with a remake or a spin-off title first. They're taking over one of the biggest franchises in the history of games; Halo defined shooters on the console. It helped define FPS for multiplayer on consoles, both online and local. 343's got a lot to live up to and, frankly, I've got my concerns. Bungie really threw the gauntlet down on Reach.
