Whatever, just wash your hands.
I don't really mind the dialogue so far.

Anyway having heaps of fun in the campaign. Loading a Razorback with power weapons is so delightfully filthy.

I am finding the game somewhat easy on Heroic, but honestly it can only be so hard when you have the grappleshot. Your ability to dictate the engagement is supreme. You're just so damn mobile and can acquire weapons/tools from a distance with it.

Some of the bosses do whip me though, but eventually I figure it out.
So far I am in pretty much 100% agreement. I am looking forward to playing on legendary, although I need to finish Halo 2, 3, reach, odst, and 4 on legendary first.

I find funny that they have some complaints about the campaign and major complaints about aspects of the multiplayer, and yet still give it an 8/10. It creates this huge dissonance where the criticism does not match the score. Something we've seen time and time again, and Dunkey has pointed out.

It’s really kinda baffling how Microsoft’s premiere in-house studio has seemed to struggle so much with technical performance for what is still considered their flagship IP. The new Forza looks great and apparently doesn’t suffer from so many issues, but then again it’s mostly just an arcade-like racing game.

Well the good news is you can play the good games from 15 years ago on Gamespass. :)

Seriously this is why I have such a hate-boner for Microsoft. They have the money and the reasources to make incredible games if they wanted to, and they should considering the console market they are trying to be a part of, and yet they continously showcase that they don't really give a shit.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Xbox doesn't even bother making a console next-gen. Playstation 6 will launch and Xbox will just exclusively offer their shit on PC because why even bother if you aren't going to actually try?

Okay so I have NOT been keeping my finger on the pulse of Halo's story for awhile. I think Reach is the best campaign, and ODST had the best atmosphere and music.
But from what I can gather this is a sorta soft reboot? 343 apparently shit the bed in Halo 5 with Cortana turning out to be bad the entire time, and this one resets her character and humans are at war with the Covenant again and its Master Chief and Cortana 2.0 just doing Halo 1 again. I guess there's nowhere else to go? I think its fitting that my two favorite Halo games are the two that have nothing to do with Master Chief. Maybe its time 343 branched out. Also the Spartans are back, somehow, despite all dying at Reach except MC?

They want to “capture the living room” along with the office room, and they don’t care how much money they need to spend to do it! “Effort”? Pffft that’s for cash-light folk like Sony and Nintendo (relatively speaking).

That statement doesn't even make any sense. So they have no direction? That explains a lot.

*Ahem* -

The original idea for the Xbox was that it would be a modified Windows PC in the living room, making it super-easy for developers to write their games once for the Xbox and then translate them over to the Windows PC with a minimum of effort.

No wonder they failed. Allow me to make a new AAA game on this very forum post:

That's because they gotten lazy and don't care. If this is how next gen is going to be on their end, Then I'm definitely not excited; especially when that price hike starts happening on most AAA games.

Okay, there's a lot to digest there, so taking it point by point:

-Cortana wasn't "bad the entire time." After Halo 4, fragments of her got sucked into the Domain, where she was able to gain control of both it, and the Warden Eternal, and by extension, the Guardians. Now, you can say that her shift from H4 to H5 is jarring, and I wouldn't say you're wrong, but I didn't really have a problem with it per se (I can explain why, but that would be a post on its own), But TL, DR, Cortana wasn't "always evil," and H5 never makes any such claim.

-Humanity isn't at war with the Covenant, they're at war with the Banished. From a gameplay standpoint, there's little difference, from a lore standpoint, a lot. I actually like the Banished as an idea, but...

-So far of what I've played, Halo Infinite really is a soft reboot, and an awkward one at that. It isn't just trying to circumvent H5, it's trying to recapture H1, to the point where some plot points are practically identical.

-Your understanding of the Spartans is way out of date. John was indeed sold as "the last Spartan," but that hasn't been true for awhile. Basically, there's a few Spartan-IIs beide him that are alive, such as Blue Team, Red Team, and Grey Team. The Spartan-IIIs are almost all dead bar a handful, and there's quite a few Spartan-IVs around. Basically, John's part of "the old guard" of Spartan-IIs, and effectively part of a dying breed, but he hasn't been "the last Spartan" for ages.

-Final point, 343 did branch out. In Halo 5. Only a lot of people didn't like that, so now we're down to nostalgic pandering. :(

Oh, and another point - who the hell designed the grenade system? In the past, you could cycle between grenades with the press of a button. Now, you press a button which opens up your grenade roster, then have to press another button to choose your grenades. It's slow, it's clunky, and it's practically impossible to cycle between grenades in combat because of how clunky the system is.

Boo. :(

It's funny, I never noticed the performance issues until some reviews started mentioning them. Since then, I can't help but be bothered by all the frame drops and stuttering in the gameplay videos I watch. And while Infinite isn't ugly at all, it also isn't pretty enough to be suffering from all the performance problems. Methinks they shifted quite a lot of their focus to the multiplayer. We can only imagine how bad things might have been if this wasn't delayed.

Well, I think it has more to do with Halo 5 just kinda being bad on its own than people not liking that 343 changed things up. As a Halo appreciator who read all the books but is not a player, I thought Halo 5 was a huge mass of missed opportunity. AI uprising is a cool concept and a natural progression to the story, but the game was too busy being the start of a new trilogy or whatever than being well written. And I keep beating this dead horse, but fuck, I'll never get over how bad the Spartans looked when 343 took over.

If they had kept the Created storyline but introduced all the gameplay and aesthetic changes from Infinite, I think people would have been more than okay with that.

They didn't like it because it was bad. Also it didn't even do what it was claiming it was going to do. All of the trailers were basically a lie.

Sooo... Halo 5 was billed as the next major installment, and came off as a bloated side story. Now Halo Infinite isn't billed as "Halo 6," but is more in line with the progression of the larger story arc. I'd say I'm confused, but I don't fucking care. I might pick it up for myself (already signed that deal with the devil getting it for my gf's son for Xmas,) USED, several months from now out of morbid curiosity, but excited for it I am not in the slightest.

You are gonna get Halo Infinite used? Why not just play it on Gamepass? It's $15 bucks which is cheaper than the game will be for years likely, and you don't have to wait.

I prefer hard copies of games; ownership isn't dependent upon my access to the internet. That said, I'm in no rush to get it either way.

The downside to that is that you need internet for the MP anyway and if you wait for the game to get cheap you might not have people around playing MP still. Though I guess that would be the best review of Halo Infinite if the MP can hold people around for any real length of time.
