I got a new copy for $20 and for that I'd say it was worth it. It isn't my favorite Halo but there's no flood so I like it a lot more than the second half of the other three numerical Halo titles. I kind of liked how the multiplayer was its own disc but I never really used it honestly. After Reach came out though I stopped caring about it though...Reach was my favorite because of no flood and, armor customization that works outside of multiplayer.

Dutch: Like the Good Book says, "Payback is a *****!"
Mickey: Dutch, I don't think that's in there.

It's my favourite Halo game. I just wish it was longer, a bit more different, and had an actually useful SMG.

The characterisation in ODST was pretty good. The Firefly references was nice extra.
I didn't enjoy Reach's characters because they were so undeveloped or bland in comparison, and I only started liking Noble team in any way after half of them were dead.

I think that it was the best campaign to come out of the Halo franchise. The subtle changes in mood and game-play really worked for me. But it should have either been longer or cheaper. And it definitely wasn't worth it for the people who had forked out their money for DLC *shakes fist*

I loved it.

Quite enjoyed the game. The challenge level was pretty high (despite the incredible hours I've spent gaming, I am not actually very good at it), but it was rewarding. I also liked the ending. It was a pretty clever way to explain how your godlike self didn't survive.

Maked good for the dissapointment that's called Halo 3.
I love the whole series but 3 was/is something I just can't seem to like.

Good Characters
My biggest gripe is that Bungie still doesn't know how to make a good looking female character. For example:

Also, Romeo was pretty hated on and Buck looked pretty strange, but the game still had its moments.

I didn't really like the whole free roaming part, it didn't really work very well and I constantly found myself bored and/or lost. Apart from that its a great game, worth the money and time.

Although I was never a big Halo fan, it was the only game I ever really played online back when I had an Xbox 360 because I was actually very good at it. I enjoyed Halo 3 to an extent, but it was mostly because I played online and through the campaign with my friends. However, I tackled ODST by myself and I enjoyed it. I thought the story was a lot more interesting than Halo 3's and the atmosphere and characters created a much more engaging narrative. My problem with it however was not only was it short, it was also too easy. I did the game on my own on legendary on the first play through and I can't recall ever being in a situation where I struggled to progress.

Brilliant atmosphere, great new characters, a cool new story, possibly the best Halo soundtrack, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing Firefight with my friends. As always, Bungie did't disappoint.

I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10.

should have been a downloadable game. If compared to the £40 price tag, it wasn't worth the cost, but overall it was a generally good game. It did a lot of things right, even if Firefight was limited. I liked it.

I liked it. It was a nice change of pace for the Halo series. It let you incorporate stealth in a series that was mainly run & gun and had the atmosphere to make it work. I enjoyed the Firefight mode as well. The maps worked well for it and the difficulty multipliers(skulls) made each wave a little bit more challenging. It was all-in-all a good game with a solid campaign/co-op element. Plus, it came with all of the multiplayer maps for Halo 3 so it technically had a competitive multiplayer as well. So the whole deal was great.

It wasn't a bad game but I thought it was pretty average story wise. I borrowed it so didn't have to suffer buying it only to realize the price was too high so that doesn't really effect me. Personally I think Reach is the best Halo.

I liked it, one of the better Halo Games I thought, even though the cutscene animation was a little cartoonish. It had a cool and clever story though and some good level design and characters, which is more tan can be said for most over Halo games.

My favourite character was Brick, at least I think that was his name, the little, quiet techie/demolition guy.

A good game. Not infinitely replayable like some of the Halo titles, but remember that this is a side-story. It's not *meant* to be epic and every second of it filled with exploding alien space ninjas shooting double-bladed laser katanas out of their asses. Rambling through the city can get repetitive if you're itching for some usual Halo-fare, but the flashback missions are good (and much better played cooperatively). Yes, Dare and Buck are ugly SOBs and look out of place in a Halo game. Yes, the non-existent sexual tension is needlessly overplayed. Yes, hearing the f***ing try-hard "atmospheric" sax-fellating soundtrack while you walk through the f***ing rain in circles gets tiring. But hey, no game is perfect.

Also: The best version of Firefight mode, which was first bastardised and then euthanised in Reach by Bungie and 343 respectively. Play ODST Firefight with 3 decent friends and tell me you're not having fun.

Also Also: It comes with the ultimate Halo 3 multiplayer disc featuring ALL DLC maps. What the hell more do you want?

If you're picking up ODST these days it's likely to be a bargain-bucket purchase, so you'll be getting your money's worth.

I thought it was a good game, I loved exploring New Mombasa at night as the rookie, and I loved how you could find "clues" as to where and what happened to your squad, and how they all merged together. Firefight was an awesome addition to Halo (A shame it wasn't as fun in Reach) and it gets bonus points for having Buck (Nathan Fillion) as a main character. The soundtrack was also awesome -
But I do feel that the campaign was a bit too short, and i can understand why people didnt like it (Not a Spartan), but as a whole (Including the Halo 3 MP with all DLC disc) it was well worth £40.

Ive got to say that I enjoyed it a lot more than Reach as well

I played in a few months ago, and quite liked it. Much better than 3, which I found unremarkable, and Reach, which I found lacked the atmosphere promised and had very little oomph until the last few levels, where it finally got a bit exciting but then ended. I found it had a lot of atmosphere, the characters were a lot more fun than normal in Halo, I enjoyed all the details around the city, and the feeling of vulnerability that came from being a human and not a Spartan. However, I also think that if I had bought it at release I would have hated it. It was criminally short, and while I had fun I had no desire to replay it either, besides Firefight mode for a bit. So, as an old title that you can buy on the cheap today, it's great. At the time of release, it was a ripoff.

It's my favourite Halo game, and I am a Halo fan. I love the atmosphere, the open-world (even if it's copypasted street segments), the audio file collectibles, almost everything.

I do think it was kind of lame to start it off as an expansion and then ship it as a full game, and I do think it should've been less than full-price, but I love it so much I ain't even mad.

I had a few qualms, of course: Considering it was supposed to be a campaign only type thing, I wish the campaign was longer. And since it grew out of being a campaign-only thing, I kind of wish it had competitive multiplayer (it was cool that they included the entire Halo 3 Multiplayer, but having already purchased all the previous DLC, it wasn't too amazing for me).

Also, the stealth was shit. There's no denying that. They gave you a silenced SMG (had a scope, awesome) and the "whisper-quiet" Automag (also had a scope and could fire as fast as you could pull the trigger, awesome), and yet the moment you shot, everyone knew where you were. Stealth has never been Halo's strong point, unfortunately. Also, the Automag was definitely a headshot-capable weapon, it amounted to very little to any enemy with any sort of defense. Also, and this is something that irritates me with every Halo game, the Sniper Rifle of all things is hardly headshot capable. I like Halo's multiplayer, where a headshot is a kill; not so much the campaign, where a headshot equals knocking off his helmet and alerting everyone to your position. Why doesn't it kill them? And why wasn't it silenced? Come to think of it, why wasn't every weapon in ODST (every UNSC weapon anyway) silenced?

Firefight is fucking awesome, way better than in Reach. Since you can change the settings in Reach to be identical to ODST, simply being weaker/ making it more challenging isn't why. I think it has more to do with the enemies, weapons, and maps. The maps are just more playable, the weapons are more fun to use, and the enemies offer unique challenges. If an Engineer shows up, you take out the Engineer or you are fucked, because they give everyone else health and shield bonuses. If the Drones show up, you whip out whatever automatic weapon you have and run for cover because they fly erratically and rain death.

Captcha: boom stick. Rather appropriate.
