Please take out armor lock and maybe dial down the grenade damage. I understand that grenades are supposed to be explosive and deadly but I'm not suppose to die in one grenade thats halfway across the room

The beta actually made me like Halo again. The weapons and the class abilities feel really good. The only problem I have is that the sound cuts out for no reason (I don't think its my TV). My friends think its just part of the cloaking ability but I'm not too sure.
This. I was trying to sell my 360, but after being talked into trying Reach, I will be keeping it just to get this game. It fixed most of my gripes with Halo 3's multiplayer and it's actually -fun-. I'm loving being a Guardian in CTF matches. The shield frustrates people to no end. Leveling up does seem kinda slow now, that would be my only gripe but it seems like this is balanced by there being a lot less filler ranks.. (I've won 5 straight games out of 8 games played and I'm....a Private Grade 1, 30% of the way to Corpral.)

It's sad to say there's people that look at Reach as "just another Halo game" when, even though each Halo has been different. Those people will miss out and I'll have my time playing stockpile.
Honestly Halo is something I've just never really understood. There are, quite simply, bigger and better games out there. Multiplayer in Halo: Reach is basically Bungie saying "we liked what all the other games this gen did so we're going to copy that. I mean, innovation has never really been their strong suit, but Halo Reach brings that lack to a new level. Also, dude, 6v6? It's 2010, how is that even acceptable anymore? For one or two game modes, sure, but even for their big game mode it's only going to be 8v8. That's just ridiculous. So yea, I've never gotten into Halo cause there's always been a better game that I'd rather play (and I've played all the Halos, just never understood why they're so popular). The original Halo, before Bungie was purchased by MS, was supposed to be an open world strategy shooter with 40v40 online play. That would have been an interesting game. Instead Bungie has just been content to put out a, imo, mediocre product (with admittedly great music) time after time.

(and don't even get me started on the crap that was Halo ODST. I picked it up super cheap in a used bin and I still feel like I got ripped off)

Not to bad armour upgrades are a good idea but find it takes a shed load of bullets to drop someone which the halo games have always been guilty of.
Also i find the stalker perk just tends to tell the enemy that your close to them just like the radar jammer perk on mw2. Animations are all good but you tend to have someone waiting to kill you when you finish pulling out someones teeth through there a*se
The plasma launcher is just insane you can lock onto and hit someone on the other side of the map as easy as walking forward.
The needler or noobler as it should be known god that bloody weapon i was hopeing with the addition of the needle rifle they would get rid of it takes no skill to use hold the button and just look towards the enemy and boom easy kill.
Other then that cant think of anything else off the top of my head and i am looking forward to it , fingers crossed they sort some of this stuff out

In my opinion the best game mode is Team SWAT. Why? Because its more balanced then the other game modes. But I am eagerly awaiting the Invasion game mode.

I was eagerly awaiting the Beta. I'll admit, I never had much love for Halo until my friend forced me to read some of the novels [I was bored, and was out of reading material.]

After getting into the back story some, I played Halo3, quite enjoyed the campaign, and enjoyed the multiplayer to an extent, but got bored after a while because it is very much a spam fest, run into people firing the AR and slapping until they die. ODST was a god send, it is definitely my favourite game of the franchise so far [Yeah, you heard me right]

I was literally frothing at the mouth for the Reach Beta, merely for frikken JETPACKS.

But alas, its just as much of a spamfest as Halo3's multiplayer. Granted, I've played about 10+ games, and probably need to give it a bit more time, but the bugs/lag have generally turned me off it for now.

And in before OMG ITS TEH BETA NOT FULL PRODUCTZ!!!! , Yes, I understand that. I'll still be buying the game for the campaign [here's to hoping its as much fun as ODST's was], but I can't see myself investing the sort of time in it I've put into, say, Bad Company 2.

Hey I hate to be 'that guy' but there's already a pretty big thread for this, dunno if you should really be using that instead.

It's fun but... I got a gamebreaking glitch, several instances where the match timed out and everyone else appeared to continue, a few times where people were invincible. But it's really fun and enjoyable...
well its a beta, thats the point, where there to see how we can break the game and they can fix it by the time the game comes out so we dont ***** out the ass on how broken things are, and yes, im bitching about MW2 here.

So most of the games have an oddball like game mode? Most of the games have stockpile? Headhunter? Last time I checked, at least for consoles, Halo was the first good FPS to have co-op and then 4 player co-op that now others copy off of. Also console-wise, Halo was the first to have a built-in forge and theater mode. Bungie also has one of the largest community support and they also listen to their fans which ALOT of games lack. If you blame Halo for copying every of their game modes off of other games, then Battlefield, CoD, Gears, etc have copied all their game modes off of others and just put their twist on, Halo did the same. If anything Halo is the only FPS now-a-days that doesn't play like the others, they innovate WAY more than CoD (or most franchises out there) ever did in any of their games. I actually like the games not being more than 16 players, it would be nice for invasion to be 32 but 16 seems fine. With less people, the better chance I have having fun with the people than just the game, at least for me, because the more populated games become, the less people communicate.

it is

thus far I've loved the beta, my only qualm is that arena is the only guaranteed way to play regular slayer and grab usually just ends up being endless slogs of one flag which can grate without variety, they really ought to have included a symmetrical map for neutral flag and regular CTF, also, where is assault? powerhouse is pretty much tailor made for something like that.
Cool. Wasn't too sure for awhile about the sound thing. Also I totally get what you're saying about the maps and game types. My first ten or so matches were on Swordbase and were all one flag CTF (with maybe one or two matches of stockpile). It was fun for a few games zipping around on jetpacks but it gets old playing the same maps over and over again.

It's good fun, bit pissed off about the fact that British people had to wait until 6pm to get it (All my bank holiday spent waiting) and the fact that not all the modes are unlocked. Otherwise, great game, and I'm looking forward to it.

grenades are finally a viable weapon at least... although the damage should go down a tad, the splash damage is fine though, before maybe 1-1000 kills was frag induced, hopefully that will change (I'm a grenade-whore...)

Ugh, Melee broke the game, you can run into a melee now, and double beatdowns are BS, you can kill anyone even if your shields are down if you are lucky, just double melee.

I also HATE the new melee system. Basically the first melee will always take off your shields completely, but will NEVER do damage to health if you have any shields left at all. Any close range encounters devolve into mashing the melee button over and over again. It's also possible to lose 1v1 even if you get the guy down to low shields because he hits the first melee. Dumb.
Really? I played a little at a friend's and loved the new melee. This way, youre kinda supposed to wait till their shields are down instead of the Halo 3 stategy of shooting till you get to them then meleeing. I think people just need to accept the fact that Halo 3's system was horrible and change their habit...

Most has been said. But surprisingly the armor abilities are pretty well balanced. The gameplay feels familiar, but fresh. But yeah, nades should NOT be lethal when I have 3/4 shields up. And the reticule is a little too opaque. And I wish that the stalker ability would make me a LITTLE harder to see, because as of now, 90% of its usefulness is the radar jammer.
Dunno if somebody already said this, I'm not in the mod to sift through posts, but the cloaking is more effective the slower you move. Running gives you pretty useless poor camo, and crouching gives you high end camo.

The grenades range somewhere from eesh a little to much spice their to Nuclear holocaust range on occasion. The DMR needs a bit more power like one less shot to kill would make it perfect.Perhaps health could mean a little more to actually and the needle rifle needs to be a bit more powerful. I love the armor abilities. Armor lock is my favorite thing finally I can do insane stuff and have a "Sucks to be you but not me" button. Other than that it all seems pretty well balanced and very fun. Lots of improvements over halo3.

It is insanely awsome with a couple flaws. The guns are pretty underpowered and could use a bit more balance. Overall its really cool though.
