Smoking makes it worse, but that's something I can't help, but to reduce.
Eating properly.
Drinking a lot of water, juice.
A reasonable amount of caffeine also helps. I think that's one of those scientifically proven things.
Taking it easy and just relaxing, if in any way possible. Something strenuous like working out can kill you, so that's out obviously.
Sleeping if you feel like it.
The single biggest cure, as far as aforementioned aren't neglected, is a nice, warm shower. The effect surprises quite often.
Couple mild painkillers if head is aching, but those always seem to do the trick. Although I don't really get hangovers I used to as a teenager, anymore. Mostly just feeling lazy and slow, with a bit of a headache if something.
So nothing odd. I think those stranger cures are basically all either contributing to the aforementioned, otherwise generally helping the system, or most importantly: have the placebo effect, and that of course can be very efficient in itself.
There's always the option of continuing drinking, or just drinking a bit to delay the hangover and that sometimes makes the recovery softer to an even barely noticeable extent.
