It just came into my head randomly how downright bizarre some of the hangover cures you see in movies and on tv are. But I started wondering, are there people out there who do drink raw eggs or other unusual things to get rid of hangovers? Have you got a cure that you or others consider odd?

Mars bar, salt 'n' vinegar Prngles and icy cold water.

Sugar, salt and water. Everything you piss away when out drinking gets put back in.

Works every time.

Smoking makes it worse, but that's something I can't help, but to reduce.

Eating properly.
Drinking a lot of water, juice.
A reasonable amount of caffeine also helps. I think that's one of those scientifically proven things.
Taking it easy and just relaxing, if in any way possible. Something strenuous like working out can kill you, so that's out obviously.
Sleeping if you feel like it.
The single biggest cure, as far as aforementioned aren't neglected, is a nice, warm shower. The effect surprises quite often.

Couple mild painkillers if head is aching, but those always seem to do the trick. Although I don't really get hangovers I used to as a teenager, anymore. Mostly just feeling lazy and slow, with a bit of a headache if something.

So nothing odd. I think those stranger cures are basically all either contributing to the aforementioned, otherwise generally helping the system, or most importantly: have the placebo effect, and that of course can be very efficient in itself.

There's always the option of continuing drinking, or just drinking a bit to delay the hangover and that sometimes makes the recovery softer to an even barely noticeable extent.

Water, water, water
sleep, sleep, sleep
booze, booze, booze

That's been my fix for the last 15 years, and it works (most of the time)

2 slices of toast, and half a gallon of water before bed.

In the morning have a full breakfast.

No hangovers.

the only sure fire way to not get or cure a hang over is to not stop drinking
To be fair thats true, I mean pretty much all other cures have been scientifically discounted.

So what do I do, I get up early and go straight out the door, start work or go fora walk if I don't have work to do. It's hard at first but it takes your mind off it and you either end up puking or feeling fine. ;)

A hangover is caused from dehydration. That means the easiest and most effective solution is water. That is to prevent a hangover. Have some water between drinks or just before you crash. This will reduce the likelihood of a hangover and if one does pop up, it will reduce how bad it is. Waking up with a hangover....well, water and Tylenol/Advil works well.

Simply not drinking too much.

This [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_dehydrogenase] is the relevant reaction that makes you feel like crap when you wake up. Ethanol (the form of alcohol everyone drinks) gets converted to ethanal, which makes you feel like crap, but is not as bad for you. As the article states, it's limited by the amount of NAD you have present...after a certain amount you can almost guarantee a hangover.

For anecdotes I've always found vast amounts of water very useful, and a chemistry teacher swears by banana pancakes, as apparently this helps reduce levels of ethanal. Anything over 6 pints though and you may as well give up all hope of having a productive tomorrow...
