The final fight against Bowser from Super Mario 64 is one that comes to mind, I could never beat it but my friend could do it easily.

Isn't it weird that the bosses you always have trouble with, your friend can beat while blindfolded? My friend could never beat Ganon(dorf) from LoZ: Ocarina of Time but I could do it with my feet.

No Duriel mentions, yet, so Duriel from D2. Not a final boss, true, but he could easily wipe folks out on hardcore and prevent people from seeing any of the game.
Yeah, Duriel was vicious and almost unreasonably difficult for that early in the game. Don't know what the hardest boss is but recently Lucifer in Dante's Inferno was difficult.

Not a final boss, but Lu Bu in any dynasty warriors. On harder difficulties all i can do is run and hope he doesn't follow me. "NO ITS LU BUUU!!"

That green clone from DOA4 GAH thats probably one of the more recent boss fights.

Also someone mentioned Lu Bu in the Dynasty warrior games. I would have to agree he's a ***** to kill on the harder difficulties.

Oh and Mike tyson on that one boxing game LOL dont even get me started.

Theres many others but I can't think of them all atm.

I was wicked underleveled. I tend to do that on RPGs; breeze right through the main story until I get to then end, and I haven't done any grinding.

When I was REALLY young, (Back when I wasn't so good at video games) I recall Bowser from Mario 64 being the hardest boss ever. It seriously took me a week, constantly finishing the last level and getting to Bowser, only to be thwarted by his attacks on that itty bitty star battlefield.

I'm sure if I picked up the game again, however, I'd pwn that bastard turtle in one or two tries.

hardest final bosses for me are the fusion dragon of the first golden sun
then RAAM on the hardest difficulty in gears 1 without using the turret

Yeah, RAAM was a ***** to beat on insane even when I used to the turret but I'm not that great at the game.

I actually had to think about this for a while. Most games I play don't have bosses, or their bosses are piss-easy. FarCry, like everything else about that game, had a nasty final boss fight, but then there was an entire level after that, which culminated in shooting a scientist with a handgun.

So I guess Malak from KOTOR. With the wrong kind of build, you have to spam him with stickybombs.

I know it's not a "boss" technically but the Boonta Classic on Episode 1 Racer (N64) I had beefed up parts so i was hauling ass but in beggars canyon I'd crash and Sebulba would blow by me.

In terms of actual bosses my greatest challenge had to be William in RE2 that cursed lunge attack he'd do in his final form got me everytime

Or run an throw your lightsaber!

At least that's how I always beat him.

Dracula in the Rondo of Blood Remake, his first two forms I could do blindfolded but then his 3rd form comes out and kicks it in to high gear, he's fairly predictable one you get the pattern down but he still comes at you pretty fast

Nyx from P3, 13 phases each worse than the last, she gets two moves a turn, then her final form comes in with Moonless gown and Night Queen. A utter ***** to beat especially if Night Queen charms your party.

[spoilers= P4 spoilers just to be safe] Izanmi no Okami, not the hardest boss but she certinaly keeps you on your toes, one mis-step and you could be looking at a game over[/spoiler]

Also The Emperor Ing/Dark Samus in Metroid Prime 2, I could never beat them. I rarly got to Dark Samus and when I did she'd kick my ass.

Final boss in neverwinter nights 2
You have to attack a couple statues with your main character with a specific sword.

Only problem is my character was a wizard with no skill at all in using swords, so I missed almost every attack and when I did hit, it was for a pathetic amount that a fighter would do on an armored opponent using a rusty spoon.

Tried it so many times, but when I finally did it,I nuked the fucker with so many spells I knocked-out half of my party with AOE collateral damage.

Virgil, Devil May Cry 3 was pretty hard. It actually took ability to beat him unlike this next guy.

In God of War Ares was just frustratingly cheap.
God of War's fighting mechanic is pretty crap to be honest, the QTE's that made you feel awesome hid the fact that Kratos is actually everyone's ***** in that game.

The trick with Virgil is to equip BeoWulf gauntlets.

Radec from Killzone 2 is incredibly difficult, he can teleport away from you or right next to you, and his stabby mc stab attack is a one hit kill.
Exactly it was pretty much impossible to beat Virgil on DMD mode without using the beowulf's.

Which I would probably list as the hardest boss for me, One of my favorites to though. Was extremely hard but wasn't in a cheap way.

The False King in Demon's Souls, not only will he likely kill you and put you back into soul form, he also can steal your levels. SO he actually weakens you as you fight him. He's a real pain in the butt D: Though not the hardest, he's the hardest I've fought in recent memory.

Just to contribute with something (given I haven't been ninja'd :p), a friend of mine - who's very good at whatever he finds fun or interesting - had a lot of problems with some bosses in Kingdom Hearts. Dunno if it was the first or second game in the series.
- I have not encountered any boss worth mentioning here.
