The original Contra actually isn't really a candidate, a fact I surprised even myself with recently. I went and played it without the code and found it only took me about three tries - and all but the last ended because I was unsatisfied with how many lives I lost early on. I may have been able to eventually beat either run. Note that while I'm an above average player, I am by no means an amazing one.Ulquiorra4sama said:I nominate the original Contra.
Old games were way more cruel than any game today. Dark Souls, take a fucking seat.
A lot of people keep saying that unforgiving isn't hard, but then what is your definition of hard? Because a game where making a single mistake because of lack of skill can lead to death seems like a hard game to me. Games that require a lot of preparation and practice are hard, whichever way you look at it. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are not games you just stroll through.TaintedSaint said:Dark souls is not hard its just unforgiving. people who think its hard are too impatient or come to a situation unprepared.
Okay, here's the details.Karutomaru said:If you're going to call a game the hardest ever, you need to go into more detail.
Agre- wait, what? An easier version? I did not know that! But yeah, definitely one of the hardest games I've ever played.anthony87 said:Devil May Cry 3 of course.
The game that was so hard they had to release it again as an easier version.
Yeah. They initially released Devil May Cry 3 but for some reason the Japanese "Hard" mode became our "Normal" mode, Japanese "Dante Must Die mode" was our "Hard" mode while our "Dante Must Die" mode was much more difficult.CrashBang said:Agre- wait, what? I say one of because I've played Demon's Souls. I still wanna give Dark Souls a try, though. I've heard it's a lot better, if not easier.
I hate to admit it, but I'm sometimes the latter. There've been plenty of occasions on maps like 2Fort where I kept the enemy sniper perch and choke points clear of everything. At times I actually felt so bad for the other team that I changed classes; usually to Spy. (course then within minutes half the other team goes Pyro and it's a clusterfuck of fire and fake spy corpses. hate that.)Combine Rustler said:Team Fortress 2 when the enemy team has either a proper W+M2 pyro or one of those fucking megasnipers. You get in line of sight, you're dead. Fucking bullshit.
I'll take your Mushimisama Futari and raise you with Dodonpachi Daioujou Death Label (DOJ DL)on the PS2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCKZj2Xss9Acanadamus_prime said:I haven't played it, but it has to be this hands down
It'd be hard enough just putting up with that Boss's laugh.
I don't know. Do any of those bosses have an obnoxious laugh that you have to put up with?TrevHead said:I'll take your Mushimisama Futari and raise you with Dodonpachi Daioujou Death Label (DOJ DL)on the PS2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCKZj2Xss9Acanadamus_prime said:I haven't played it, but it has to be this hands down

Its a special boss rush mode where you fight around 12 bosses no lives 1 hit and its game over. From what I understand that MON dude is the only person to have beaten it, watch his godly dodging skills in that promotional vid I linked
I have Mushimisama Futari for the 360, that Ultra mode in the vid is a bit out of my league i'll stick with the much easier Original and Maniac modes.
Ugh...I just bought that game and am having a weird glitch where Kyle's body duplicates. So there are three body duplicates sort of in a clump (it's not symmetrical). And the duplicates must have their own hitboxes, because enemies suddenly were extremely accurate against me (seriously, like 90% of their shots hit me now). Sucked the fun out of the game, so I quit.GeneralTwinkle said:I remember being very frustrated at jedi outcast, I still love it though. Really?!Vigormortis said:As for me; and I've played a LOT of hard-as-hell games; the hardest game I've ever played was MechCommander 1. That game, on any difficulty above "normal", was damned near impossible to beat. I don't care how "good" or "tactical" you are, when a Raven scout mech can take down Atlas assault mech without trying, that's a God damned hard game. It's one of, if the only, game I've ever needed cheats to beat.
Still, it's "theoretically" possible to beat the game on the hardest difficulties. Even if I've never seen it.
That's really oddDustyDrB said:Ugh...I just bought that game and am having a weird glitch where Kyle's body duplicates. So there are three body duplicates sort of in a clump (it's not symmetrical). I mentioned the bug on the game's technical issues forum on Steam yesterday. Googling didn't help, looking up bug fixes for the game didn't help. I'm not very good at the technical side of computers (I can follow directions, but I can't really figure things out on my own). So I just have to wait and hope someone can help. That or I can start the game over. But I don't like the idea of restarting a game that bugged out on me, not knowing if the issue will occur again.GeneralTwinkle said:That's really oddDustyDrB said:Ugh...I just bought that game and am having a weird glitch where Kyle's body duplicates. If you can fix it though, you really should try. The first few levels aren't very fun- You're stuck with a shitty blaster against stormtroopers who don't suck, but when you get your lightsaber and forcepowers it's probably one of the best star wars games, bar maybe the KOTOR series.
Oh god yeah, I played ~30 hours of the multiplayer until I pushed myself to get the lightsaber. But even after that, you get some really cool and fun guns later in the game, along with some ridiculous and OTT force powers.DustyDrB said:The gunplay does suck. There is almost no feedback for when you hit enemies. Even the first Dark Forces had a nice sound when you made contact.
