During my senior year, the school group I was in was promised $400 each for a Washington DC trip. Then they said we had to write and present an essay to a Senator(which we couldn't do), then they lowered the money down to $300. After that, they got rid of it all together claiming the group we were in didn't have the funds. Mind you, this was after the person in charge of the group took a school funded trip for a educational conference vacation.
To the school's credit though, the administration stepped in and forced the head of our group to pay. They figured if the sports teams should get their funding for all the travel they do, so should the career oriented group I was in.
Also they once charged me $40 for a small piece of damage on a textbook published in 1990. The damage was there when I got it in 2009. For some reason they marked it as "brand new"
