Has there been a jrpg in the last 9 years that was not completely annoying?

The PS2 era was easily my favorite for JRPGs, this one has been poor, but tons of classics form the last generation.

If you don't like a genre, that's fine, I don't care for FPS, but don't deny that for people that do there have been some quality ones in last 9 years.

um, thats for Spore, he never said that at JRPG´s.
it doesn't matter the context its a quote/exert when you quote from hamlet you don't say all the works of Shakespeare

No, but you do quote Shakespeare at relevant times. If you're talking about murder/revenge plots, you really wouldn't quote Twelfth Night...unless you're trying to be ironic.

Final Fantasy X, if that's new enough for you. Amazing game. Final Fantasy XII was okay, but the story lacked personality (but it definitely was not short on epic scale).

But if you have a DS, I practically command you to go get The World Ends With You. One of the best RPGs I have ever played: everything was just perfect. The story was complex and genuinely emotional, the characters were deep, and the music was a great blend of Japanese and English rock, pop, and some rap, as well as some great instrumentals when the time was right. The combat system was complicated and hard to get used to, but once you master it, it's a smooth and fluid system that will forever be imprinted as one of the greatest uses of the DS touch screen I've yet seen.

It's high praise, but all deserving. If you have a DS, get The World Ends With You. If you don't have a DS, buy one and get The World Ends With You.

It's only my opinion but I liked Lost Odyssey, and even Last Remnant a bit. They might not be as great as the heady heights of FFIX (My personal favourite) But Lost Odyssey is still everything I love about them, so no complaints.
Another FFIX fan! ...Can I marry you?

Does the Final fantasy tatics remake for the PSP count?
Sadly not. And that wasn't so much a remake as it was a re-translation with 2 new classes and characters thrown in.

Lost Odyssey.
Seriously...EPIC.

Tales of Vesperia seems pretty cool too. I really want to try the SMTs and The Last Remnant.

Yeah, I'd try those.

Honestly recently I had the pleasure of playing Infinite Undiscovery and though I rarely heard anything positive about it, I decided to give it a chance. Yes the voice acting it atrocious and the Capell is a flute-playing emo look-alike of a bad ass knight of awesome. BUT, spending half a game laughing my ass off because they keep bashing Capell for being the "useless look-alike" was well worth it. The characters are all kinda bland when looked at from afar but as you get deeper into the story you find out how deep and complex each character is. Despite the Party Conundrum [http://ctrlaltdel-online.com/news.php?i=1963] that is always faced when playing a JRPG or, any kind of game that allows you to have a party, I connected with most of the characters I gave a shot.

Gameplay wise the mouth movements were very off from the the words but I kinda ignored it. The battle system was impressive and I enjoyed it over any other JRPG battle-system I've ever seen. The story progression and party system were well put together and the 3 teams of 4 were interesting. My only problem was some of the stronger party members were "secondary" or non-your-team characters.

Plus it's way worth it to watch Capell freak whenever a girl asks if there is anything they can do for him and his almost unexpected reply of, "Wait...did you say ANYTHING?"
