Has there ever been a perfect game?

There is no perfect game and I thank God every day that there isn't. The gaming market would collapse on itself. Every market would collapse on itself.

Luckily, it won't happen. It's like saying that there would be perfect food.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I rest my case.
I see your Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and raise you Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Also, Tetris and Portal.

Already been said, but it has to be Duke Nukem Forever, because it was so astonishingly good that it caused a quantum collapse that caused it to be erased from existence and the memory of the human race. It's a good thing that I'm a dwarf lumberjack

Baldur's Gate 2. Best RPG ever made, one of the best games ever made. As close to perfect as I've seen a game get.

*long pause* No. Mass Effect came close, but the more I played the more the Mako got on my nerves. ME 2 could be though; but that is just speculation right now, since it hasn't been released yet.

Whilst I agree there can never be and has never been a perfect game, Silent Hill 2, Ico and Uncharted 2 have come pretty damned close.

Hmmm. Perfect for everyone. No. And I think there will always be flaws. But then, I've been playing borderlands and I can't actually think of a bad thing... I would like to try online play, but it's not their fault there's no hosts I can connect to here in Australia... Ever. Also, Assassins Creed 2 is near perfect. A brilliant game. But, again, some small flaws. So maybe games are moving closer to perfection. They might never quite reach it, but at least if a developer strives for it you get a damn good substitute.

See the laughing scene and say that with a straight face. I don't think there is a best game but if I had to pick, either; Robo Pit (on the ps1), Fallout 3 (On the 360) or Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness(on the ps2). I know all of them have one or two flaws but to me they are the perfect games and none of the flaws effected the gameplay

games are in my opinion an art form, and there fore are inherently inperfect as what appeals to some people will not appeal to others.

I guess this leaves us with the question has there ever been a perfect game for me?

no - I've always found at least one niggling little flaw even if its only a minor interface bug or a spelling or grammar error.

Humans are imperfect, therfore anything we make will be imperfect. But its not the end of the road that matters it how much fun we had on the journey that counts trying to make the perfect game.

Nah, never will be. However, I do believe Fallout 2 comes close. I think it marks the beginning (and end) of the "Porn Star with a Combat Shotgun Era" for video games.
