As compared to the political spectrum in the staes, they are left wing. Moreso than the democrats. To the rest of the westernized world, they're centre-right. American politics are so skewed into the nutbar fringes of the right wing, you've collectively lost touch with what a left and right wing actually are. What you really ought to know is that we weathered the econominc crash of '08 with nary a skinned knee, and our dollar is currently seeing parity with the american dollar. Say what you will about government control, we're economically a lot better off right now.

I always relate America/Canada to Australia/New Zealand, but depending on the situation, Australia is either America or Canada.
In other wirds, when it's about making fun of accents, Australia is America, making fun of New Zealand, but when it comes to culture, I'd side with Canada (assuming what I've heard is correct (the large 'laid back' attitude, not super-involved in politics like Americans, basically all-round fun-loving).
So yeah, I never make fun of Canada except in a 'How I met your mother' kind of way.

Americans pick on us Canadians because we are an easy target. We are the closest neighbours and many of them know very little and go on stereotypes. such as the country is a tundra,we live in igloos,like whale blubber,have our pet beavers and say eh. I don't know why they think only canadians say it because eh is an interjection which is asking a person if you agree with the statement i just said.
for those more knowledgeable with politics know that we had a liberal government for over 12 years straight, Some Americans see our country as what would happen if it was more liberal. Many see that as a bad thing.

Really? I always considered Canada to be that little (read as, freakin HUGE) kid on the playground that was always ignored.
I live in Canada and my only complaint is a really minor one, and it's that if you want to order something from the U.S. the shipping charges generally suck. (this applies mostly for board games.)
I make fun of the military sometimes, like saying "our military thinks forks are a valid replacement for Bayonets" but really, I've got nothing negative to say.
