Have PS4, get Xb1 next or Wii U?

I just cannot decide!
I have a PS4, very happy so far etc so no worries there
I do however feel I want to get a second system too. I was just assuming that'd be Xbone but now the Wii U has grabbed my attention again.

A lot of what's on/going to be on Xbone is going to be on ps4 as well, I'll be keen to play halo 5 when it hits, I'd have fun replaying older halos in MCC edition... New gears when that happens. I'd give sunset overdrive a go to. Not sure how much I'd use it to be honest but kinect is a cool toy.

Wii U on the other hand is totally different from ps4 AND Xbone so might add a bit of flavour to my library. The offscreen play would be excellent for me (as remote play between ps4 and vita has been) as my misses is a movie buff and uses the tv a good amount. A good £100 cheaper than an Xbone setup too.

Which way would you guys go on this one? I'm torn.

Third outside option might just be new 3ds XL

I'd get the WiiU. The majority of the third party titles for the Xbone will also be on PS4, and as far as first party titles Microsoft just doesn't have all that much anymore. The WiiU on the other hand gives you access to a lot of good party games like Smash and Mario kart for when you have people over, and it has really unique titles like Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 that just aren't available anywhere else.

Halo 5 isn't shaping up to be very good (in my opinion), you can play all the older Halo games on the Xbox 360 (they're all backward compatible) and I can pretty much guarantee you'll get tired of the kinect pretty quickly, if you even get a console with it. Sunset Overdrive looks like a ton of fun but it doesn't seem like a system seller to me (and it may very well go third party like Bioshock and Mass Effect did on the Xbox 360).

So yeah, having a PS4 and the WiiU will get you access to pretty much everything you could want.

Get neither. Save that up and be patient and it'll payoff. Nintendo are already at work on their next home console (NX or something it's called atm). If you wait around a bit then at the very least Wii U will dive in price and you'll be able to get all the Wii U classics like Mario Kart 8, Sonic Boom... well it's a classic in its own right... anyway you can get them cheap. win win/

I guess it depends on how you feel about the potential of Microsoft and either new or updated IPs.

I thought Halo 4 was not good at all. I have zero faith in 434 Studios to carry on what Bungie created. I grew bored with Gears and never even finished the third game.

Nintendo has their usual suspects in Zelda/Mario/Metroid and they seem to have themselves a bit of a booster with the new RPGs releasing on their system with games like Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem (although I suppose we're assuming RPG; we don't seem to know anything beyond the name), Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Monster Hunter.

Personally, I haven't decided out of any of the new systems (or if I'm done with the consoles and I'm...*sigh...going PC *makes sign of cross). I've always been of the mind that until the games are actually released and I can see them, the system doesn't get credit for it and neither the PS4 or the Xbox One have shown enough actual releases for me to consider either.

If you need to decide ASAP for some reason (blink twice if you're in danger!), then the Wii U would be the obvious choice as they have a stable library set-up AND a lot of potential still where the Xbox One is a lot of potential and....Sunset Overdrive I guess?

I'm no more tired of any one franchise than of any other .... I was done with COD a few iterations ago... Don't remeber playing halo 4 but not out of being bored of halo... Same with Nintendo. Mario games are still a bit of silly fun and I like a good zelda game etc.

Really boils down to checking out their exclusive lists and deciding which appeals to you more. In terms of dissimilarity, the Wii U is as different as you can get from the PS4.

Getting an Xbone seems pointless when you have a PS4 unless you really want to play one of the Xbone's exclusives. I suggest getting a PC if you wouldn't mind spending at least $700 for a proper gaming rig. Otherwise, If enough WiiU games appeal to you, it might be worth your money, but I'd wait for it to get cheaper since Nintendo will announce their new console soon.

I'm about done with gaming PCs. Yes I do think it's the best platform to be honest, but after years of having really good, high end systems, in sick of the constant upgrading and pissing about in order to keep up (yeah I was one of THOSE pc people who need the latest hardware for no good reason, can't help it)

I have both and in general I'd probably go with the Wii U. The Xbox One's exclusives don't have much variety. Oh sure a new Gears of War is probably going to be awesome (Judgment's survival through AAA-ification is testament to that), and Dead Rising can probably crank out another game or two, but you're not getting much that the PS4 can't already give you (which is incidentally why I haven't got a PS4 yet). The Wii U has a wider variety of genres, and has backwards compatibility with the Wii in case you wanted to play those titles (though that involves buying Wii Motes/Nunchucks). With the PS4 and Wii U you should be covered for most AAA releases of this generation. Check the exclusives list for both, though I'd say you're probably better off with a Wii U.

I assume you've got the old Halo's, so the only thing coming out is Halo 5, which I don't see having that much replay value on it's own. Personally, I've got to go with the Wii U. It has some great exclusives, and Nintendo has been ramping up its game. I can't think of much that the Xbox has that justifies a purchase.

Me?? I got the Wii U first, got the PS4 2nd. Wii U has the Wii U fit, Mario Cart, Smash Brothers, Pikmen 3, Wonderful 100, just very different gameplay with the gamepad. PS4 and XB1, very similar as far as gameplay goes vs. PS3 and XBox 360: same but improved.

So, get the PS4 and Wii U.

Truth: next I get the Xb1. It will happen but the order was Wii U, PS4 then XB1.

Yeah, Halo 4 was not very good, so if you don't remember playing it that's probably for the best.

A few cool set pieces, but a pretty bad story, and some new enemies that are really not fun to fight (not as bad as the flood, but also a lot more prevalent).

The multiplayer also had really bad map design and not particularly great balance. The only good maps were the ones that were ripped from other games. I had fun with the multiplayer though and I think that Halo 5's multiplayer looks like ass.

I'd agree with the Wii U suggestions.

Put bluntly a large number of high-end games likely to come out will come out for both the PS4 and the XBOne. So unless there are very specific exclusives on the XBOne you want it seems a waste if you have a PS4. Whereas the Wii U has a very different and a significant exclusive collection of games (admittedly largely because Nintendo are the only ones publishing for it but even so there's nice stuff there).

All i can contribute to this thread is that I am very happy with my WiiU. If you live with someone then the offscreen play really is a God sent thing!
Not much else I can say as I do not own a Xbox1 and you pretty much covered all sides of the coin in your OP.

Wii U, no question. The exclusives are gonna be much, much better than Microsoft's offerings, at least, as far as what I've seen. Not to mention some of the new titles coming out soon. You'll probably get half of the newer released games on PS4 as you will Xbox One, so getting some stuff with solid first party support, personally, sounds like the better deal. Oh, and it's cheaper. Can't argue with that, right?

Also, LESS FUCKING INSTALL TIMES, JESUS XBOX WHYYYYYYY

I think I am leaning more toward Wii U really. The new 3ds xl holds some attraction too but I wanna get my hands on the wind waker revamp as much as I want 3d ocarina/majora lol

Honestly, if you were choosing between all 3, then it's tricky, and kind of down to preference.

But if you have a PS4, and are looking for a second system, then the Wii U is by far the best choice. It is guaranteed to have a lot of content that you won't find on other systems.

Now obviously if you dislike the kind of games Nintendo makes, that might not mean much to you, but other than that, there probably just isn't going to be more than a handful of things on the Xbox One that aren't also going to be on PS4...

Edit: fixed a typo

If you got a PS4, you basically have an Xbone that play Sony exclusives instead of Microsoft exclusives. Unless Crackdown 3, Gear of War 4(?), Halo 5 or the timed exclusives (like some DLC, ugh) look really worth it, hold off on getting a 'bone for a few years, when price drops happen. I'd say the same thing about the PS4 if you had a Xbone and wanted to know where to go from there.

As for the Wii U, maybe also wait until some details are revealed about that NX thing. We still have no idea if it will replace the Wii U, replace the New 3DS or become another "third pillar" (which could eventually replace one of the others, like the original DS). If Nintendo releases information suggesting it will replace (or indirectly compete with) the Wii U, the Wii U's price could drop, even if the NX is more that a year away. (There is also the slim chance Nintendo might reveal a model with a useful amount of internal storage. Even my 32 GB, is at half capacity, and I only downloaded Metroid Prime Trilogy and SSB updates and have some saves on it.) Though, the Wii U is a powerhouse for first party titles in this age where the other two are near identical in both hardware and software lineups. If memory isn't a concern, or you have a spare USB HDD handy, a used 8GB Wii U is a good start.

I just played through WW HD. The swift sail and trimming of one annoying quest at the end do make it easier on newcomers and veterans alike, but they, along with the updated visuals, are not really great selling points for someone who has played the original. (It doesn't help the sail, while providing much relief from the tedium of crossing vast distances, has to be won at the auction house, after winning three other auctions. I spent most of the game without it, because I didn't know where you found it and usually skip the stupid auctions.)

Really, if you have played Wind Waker and haven't played one of the 3DS Zeldas (or the N64 originals) you might want to go with a New 3DS, or the older model that is dropping in price. I'm expecting it to be about 2 years[footnote]The same time between the GB Color and the GBA, the GBA SP and the DS, and the DSi and 3DS[/footnote] before Nintendo makes the New 3DS obsolete. Being a N64 version vet, I'm not happy with how the bosses in Majora's Mask 3D were changed, but the rest of the game has been made much easier, thanks to many small changes.

We dont even know what the fuck the NX is yet, or when it's coming out. It is far too early to say anything of the like about it or it's effects on the Wii U yet.

That and since the development on the Wii started pretty soon after the release of the Gamecube. Whatever the NX is, it's probably a good way off since we literally just learned of it's existence.
Use of swearing in a format where body language isn't applicable implies aggression and forces a feeling of superiority over the person you're replying to, opening up the rightful opportunity to fight through your instigation. Is that what this is or have I just avoided an unneeded rage thread?

It's simple; wait a few years and get the Wii U games a lot cheaper, simple as that. Whether NX comes to anything or not i the time isn't entirely the point, the fact is that because we have the information of it's existence the worth of the Wii U will drop significantly over time.
