The game would perhaps be better off without quick-time events.

It is intended to be an interactive movie and I say that is awesome but I see no reason for there even to be a test of reflexes.

Video games are an art form because they are interactive. Heavy Rain is, if it succeeds, a major step in games (yes I do mean >games<) development as an art form.

I am in no small way exited.

This is the kind of game that doesn't make me want to buy a PS3 for it, but I'll watch someone play through it on Youtube.

That's exactly what I felt when I first saw the preview. Even though now I've seen what the game is truly about, it still looks like a lot of QTE's for my taste, and won't exactly be my first choice when thinking of reasons to buy a PS3 (After seeing my last paycheck, I'm really considering it).

I'm somewhat interested in Heavy Rain, but it'll be quite a while before I have a PS3, so it's not very relevant for me yet.

But on that subject...

JediMB: "'I don't understand why people play shooters' - Heavy Rain's David Cage hates games"

McAster: I don't understand why people waste so much money on such average games

* McAster hates Heavy Rain

Does the Idea of a truly and completely interactive movie really not excite you?

It'd be groundbreaking of people wouldn't dismiss it as "LOLQUICKTIMEEVENTS"
Except that it won't be a truly and completely interactive movie, because as a video game it will still have limited possibilities.

So, no, this game doesn't interest me at all. It's a "Choose your own adventure" book and, quite frankly, those kind of sucked.

Yeah, I never played IP. Still, it just seems a bit silly... quick time events have long been the bane of many gamers, so making games practically based around them is just... it seems like it wouldn't work.
Because after all, no-one bought guitar hero/rock band/ddr, right?

Aren't they in the rhythm based genre of games?
However, wehen you think about it, you're right...

Rhythm based games? How do you play them, push buttons rhythmically in a certain order?

... What's a quick time event again? :p

(I know you've already got the point, but it's worth the attention. People say "OMFG QT SUX", then shell out £120 for a plastic guitar and a series of QTE's)

Like everyone has said, it's not about mashing buttons, it's about making permanent decisions that resonate into the game world. I'm very excited for this game, it looks like it will be a unique title.
