Hope its awsome.
It doesn't come out til Friday over here... =(
You know, some people actually like quick time events when used well? And from playing the demo I found these quick time ARE used well. The game interests me, personally and what is wrong with a company doing something slightly different?flaming_squirrel said:There seems to be a lot of excitment around this game, I have no idea why.
It's one massive, boring cutscene with quicktime events. HOW IS THAT FUN?
I'd rather spend 1/4 of the amount on a decent dvd and then fiddle around with the remote every minute or so, a better experience for a fraction of the cost.
But there's nothing different or new about it whatsoever, quicktime events have been done to death and most games ever made have some form of a cutscene, all they did was base an entire game on it. I could make an entire game based on the screen where you enter your name and it would be just as innovative as Heavy rain is.J-meMalone said:You know, some people actually like quick time events when used well? Sony most likely got the impression that the review scores were good and wanted people to hear that the game was good well in advance because it is a new type of videogame and most people want to see reviews scores of it before buying it. Unlike say Modern Warfare 2 which was guaranteed to be a hit and nobody cared as much about the review scores.ramik81 said:I'm just curious why the hell all the reviews got to it way before the release.
You won't need it. Granted, I didn't play it myself yet, though Gamepro (Ger) said it'd be about 4-6 hours of length. So you'll have plenty of time to finish it at least once anyways.AntiAntagonist said:I called my local Gamestop to see if they would have a midnight launch. Sadly it won't be.
I'm thinking of taking Friday and Monday off to get plenty of playtime.
Quicktime events and cutscenes themselves are not new. It's the way which Heavy Rain utilizes them mixed with a mature plot which makes this a fresh experience. If you really want to get technical, then Farenheit was really the unique game and Heavy Rain is simply improving on that formula. Myself, I loved the demo and can't wait to pick up my copy Thursday.flaming_squirrel said:But there's nothing different or new about it whatsoever, quicktime events have been done to death and most games ever made have some form of a cutscene, all they did was base an entire game on it. Pretty much, I agree.cheywoodward said:Sony most likely got the impression that the review scores were good and wanted people to hear that the game was good well in advance because it is a new type of videogame and most people want to see reviews scores of it before buying it. I have it preordered and am looking forward to it. I agree that gaming as a whole needs it, just look at wolfenstein 3 which was just as innovative as heavy rain is, if videogames can't innovate then the medium as a whole will not last.ramik81 said:Pretty much, I agree.cheywoodward said:Sony most likely got the impression that the review scores were good and wanted people to hear that the game was good well in advance because it is a new type of videogame and most people want to see reviews scores of it before buying it. Even though most people might not like the QTE, I still think it's a game very important to gaming as a whole.
Or at least it could be, need to play it first to make up my mind on that note.
That's disappointing. Though I'm guessing there will be a number of possible plots/endings, so I'll probably play through a few times.Gladion said:You won't need it.
