Infact, it would be great if I could find a website with like a "meal schedule" or something,
The food pyramid is a good place to start

Also, if you are really serious about this you could find a Weight Watchers meeting place near you.

Be sure to drink plenty of water, because it'll help you rid your body of toxins, and it'll replenish you. Plus, it can help make you feel full for a bit.

If you can drink ice water, then you'll be able to burn more calories just by sitting on your ass! Eight cups of water will burn 64 calories because your body has to expend energy warming it. Times that by seven days, and you'll have burned 448 calories, which is about a 1 hour jog.

As for a 'meal plan' , I wouldn't use one. Instead, just make a point to eat, and snack healthier. You can start of easy by giving up fast food, and taking a couple minutes making a tuna sandwich, which is rich in protein, and has omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for your body. Find some fruits, and vegetables that you like the taste of, and eat a few servings a day. The worst thing you can do is starve yourself, or adhere to a meal plan because that'll make you feel horrible, and you're likely to go back to old habits.

If you're doing exercises, go for ones that get your circulation going, as well as some that can help tone you; pushups, are always a great start, and they can be done anywhere. Don't shoot for a big weightlifting workout or anything, because that's pretty ambitious. Write down your progress, so you can see how you've progressed, and you'll feel better about yourself. =D

good on you buddy! it is always hard to stay healthy and lose weight when you are working alone, try to get the people around you(friends and family) to join you and be supportive. I myself am very antisocial and inactive, so I tried to join a gym, but going alone was hard and I quit. If you can afford to I recommend signing up at a gym with personal trainers and nutritionists who can help you.

I have a pull-up bar over my bathroom door.

I love it.

It's hugely important, imo, to make exercising convenient and accessible to yourself, so you don't have an excuse.

One of the things I got me into shape was meeting a parkour runner, you know like urban ninjas. Go find a few (Google is a great place to start), they'll teach you how to do everything, after that its up to you to continue building your skill by going over under and through different obstacles, all while getting in shape.

The food pyramid is a horrible place to start. Whoever pays more money gets their food on it. Seriously tho...doesn't it recommend 3 servings of eggs per day? that's 220mg(its in the yolk, if you just eat the whites your in the clear) of cholesterol PER EGG. HE WILL have a heart attack by the time hes 30. Anyways...here's what I did. At 222 lbs I decided to join a gym, started to eat more(5-6 meals a day),used to only eat something for lunch then dinner and that was it(WoW was my form of exercise), and little over a year later i'm at 160lbs my routine that entire time was 30 minutes of cardio then 30 minutes of weight training about 3-5 days a week. www.myapex.com is a good place to start, I believe you can get a trial offer on there just to get yourself into a right eating habit, then cancel the site :). And if you ever decide to use protein supplements www.trueprotein.com has some nice protein powder and a forums section to answer any questions you may have reguarding pretty much anything that has to do with diet and fitness. Hopfully this helps, just stick with it and good luck!

/edit also forgot to add...all i drink is water

Exercise is a sucker chore - it's unpleasant, it's time consuming, it gets in the way of all those things you'd rather be doing. Try a sport of some variety instead - it's the same thing only theres a decent chance you'll have fun while you're at it.

For handy tips - I suggst fencing. It has a fairly low cost associated with it, and it can be a hell of a workout, plus it's also well suited for giant nerds. Tennis is a good choice too, and it's an even better workout, but the catch is you have to find people at least reasonably close to your skill level to play against, otherwise it's no fun whatsoever. Soccer would be my third choice, and it has probably the LOWEST cost associated with it - the only catch is you need a whole gaggle of people to actualy play a game (but, there are usually leagues present in most cities that facilitate this aspect).

It's simple really, just takes determination.

Work out your body fat percentage, a gym or something can do it for you. With that info work out exactly how much energy you need to take in during the day(basal metabolic rate) to maintain your lean body mass. Then subtract about 200 calories or about 1200 kilojoules from your diet. This will force your body to harvest any stored energy to maintain your weight.

You might be thinking, "well if you take 200 why not 400, or 600? Wouldn't that be faster?" and this answer is, NO. If you take to much from your diet your body will enter starvation mode. This basically means that instead of taking energy from stored fats it will just let unnecessary lean body mass areas deteriorate. Which is exactly what you don't want to happen. This will reduce your basal metabolic rate(BMR) making it even harder to lose weight in the long run.

The foods you should cut out, any form of soda, over processed foods(including white bread, whole wheat is preferable), simple sugars and fast foods. An example of a good meal would be a lean meat, like turkey, cut vegetables and maybe some cheese. You should eat about 5-6 small meals a day as this stimulates your metabolism making you lose weight faster. You should eat a protein at every meal to maintain your muscle mass.

Exercise is totally optional but it will be a lot easier if you do at least some. Once or twice a week you should get some cardio exercise. This basically means getting you heart rate up. This can be anything from running, walking, swimming or riding. This exercise must be prolonged for any effect. About 20-30 mins should be enough.

Weight lifting could also be very beneficial. It increases the lean body mass and increases your BMR causing your need for energy to increase. If you cant afford weights try doing pushups, chinups, squats, lunges and L-sits.

There are countless books on the subject. I got most of my information from "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto. I'm sure you can find a copy somewhere *cough* torrent *cough*

Pm me if you have any questions. Good luck with the weight loss.

Thanks, dudes. This all seems like pretty solid advice, with any luck, I'll be a sterotypically thin geek in no time.
