Hello

I have an 8 year old sister who loves video games, especially Super Mario Bros., Little Big Planet, Pokémon and Persona 4 (don't ask why).

I would like you to recommend me good games that I can play with her, multiplayer is optional, for the PS2 or PS3.
She is not fluent in English, so a game without a very complicated story would be nice, although some PG-7 games come dubbed. I don't mind translating text.

Please help me out.

Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing are good ideas, both are addicting for everyone, time wasting and replayable.
She has Animal Crossing for the DS.
Please read the opening post, as it specifies consoles.

Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise is actually a lot of fun, if you ask me. And if I remember right, two people can couch-play together at the same time.

Shoot, I'm well into my 20's, and I enjoyed the hell out of it! Very fun, creative, and relaxing.
Edit; nevermind, didn't read the consoles available. Apologies...

Ahem, on that note, Ratchet and Clank games, you can't go wrong!

The Lego games. They have no dialogue, so there shouldn't be any language barriers for her.

Also, they're really, really fun!

I'd say the LEGO games really. Simple, fun, basic platforming, and pretty easy to understand and pick up and play.

Probably would be helped along a lot if she liked one of the franchises they have so far, but then again, HP LEGO is coming out soon, so mayhap you should hang on for that.

GOD OF WAR III

*Ahem*

Ratchet and Clank series is excellent, and it is cartoon violence with zany over the top weaponry... Like a Frog that burps to destroy enemy robots, or a grenade which causes everyone to have "Saturday Night Fever!"

Calumon: I want to recommend Digimon World, but you can't buy it anymore. : (

The Sly Racoon and Ratchet & Clank series.

The first series is rather stealth-focused, the second is more about plowing through every on-screen baddy.

I thought about Ratchet & Clank, since they are charming and fun, but I don't think she's skilled enough to play them (I'm not sure about the difficulty), as she is not very good.

Keep them coming, people, I really appreciate this!

I would also like to recommend Pixel Junk shooter, which is a downloadable game for the PS3, and which has coop mulitplayer, so that you'll be able to play with her. If you don't know much about the game, here is a link to a review of it:

Also, I can't believe no one has mentioned any of the guitar hero or rockband games. They're great games that kids love, plus it's a good way to teach her about good music, and keep her away from those damn Jonas Brothers.
Like most kids, she can't play GH worth shit, mostly because of timing and coordination problems, like remembering the buttons. She likes disco music, so I'll nurture that until she's' old enough for rock.

Persona 4 (don't ask why).
Give her a lollypop and a pat on the back. Or a pizza if you are awesome.
I've done both. Even though I'm ashamed of myself, I am proud of her.
Well then you have nothing to help you with. If she likes games like Persona 4, she'll turn out okay.

Do you guys think Jak & Daxter would be appropriate? I have never played any of them, but I have the first for the PS2.
it's PG-7, but the text on the back of the cover kinda throws me off.

I would HIGHLY reccomend Okami. There is no voice acting (like old skool zelda) so you can read the text at your own rate and the game is sligtly over PG-7 but has nothing i would feel uncomfortable with an 8 year old playing (the worst it gets is a couple of boob jokes).

Also any of the Jak or Ratchet and clank games.

Also if you have even a vaugly modern PC World of Goo is a hoot and a half.

Multiplayer wise im not too sure.
I've been thinking of getting Okami, and if it's not inappropriate I might just pick it up some time.
