Its seems more and more games are making people make ethical choices. One example is in COD:WAW when you are given the to either throw a molotov at some German P.O.W.s or let them suffer an even more horrific fate. I know that when the choice represented it self to me I threw the molotov. But I know that when I asked my brother what he did he said that he let them suffer the horrific fate. So my question to all of you is are you a good or evil gamer? Do you always find yourself playing video games this way? If you do then why?

Really depends on what the situation is, but mostly I'm good.
In some games it's almost as if the characters want you to kill them, mocking you with stupid dialog.
That 1 guy in Fallout 3 that keeps talking to you during the escort, his brain was spread through the wasteland before he could say his 3rd sentence.

I try to play the game using choices that I would in real life. I put myself into the situation and think about what I would do or say. Mostly I pick the nice guy choices, though.

Would you have been able to kill all those people in real life? Even the Security Guard?

His name was Steve he had a family of 5 to support. His oldest son is crippled and his wife has no qualifications and brings in minumum wage.

You haven't just killed Steve, you've killed his family.

There are no morals or ethics(same meaning here?) in a video game. I usually go with the option that gives me the most resources.

Only I tend to apply that to real life as well.

Ok, fine, I'll post in this thread. Jerks.

I almost never play evil unless there's significant comedy value. That is why Bioware and Bethesda are gods among men.

Deus Ex, on the other hand, sneaking is so much more fun than liquidation that I'm offended when people kill off the enemies I left alive. Same goes for stealing cards as captives in Mercenaries, I could care less for the reward difference but the professionalism suffers. Not that some of them didn't get the business end of a tank when I was provoked.

I do what I would do in real life, and end up usually playing as a semi-evil/neutral character. When it comes to Nazis I have no mercy though.

Depends on the rewards. If no rewards, I'm usually good.
This, if it turns out that the rewards for being good are greater than that of being evil, then it's even better!

I make the good choices most of the time. It's a real drag in RPG's where the game makes you make these kinds of decisions all of the time. In time you learn that being good is hard, because when you are good people see it and they abuse your kindness and turn you into a slave...
Oh, wait, if they give me a choice between being nice to victims like the security guard or the German P.O.W. I would have had mercy on him and swiftly pull the trigger rather than let him suffer till the end...

I went through a really short phase where I couldn't do anything evil like kill unless it was for self preservation. It all started in Medal of Honor Frontline on the second to last level at the very end of the mission a Nazi is radioing his wife saying the war will be over soon and he will be okay. I couldn't bring myself to put a bullet through his head. I still managed to gold the mission.

I take both paths in games. I like to see the outcome of what would happen and how the story changes.

I do unto others what they do to me. If the characters a dick to me I'll kill them with gleeful malice, if they're helpful, nice or are otherwise pleasant I'll treat them well.

Depends. Games that give you choices like this, tend to be RPGs, so I'm usually role playing as one sort of character or another
