Morality has no place on the battle field, what happens, happens.

But evil usually does tend to me more interesting.

I try to play the game using choices that I would in real life. I put myself into the situation and think about what I would do or say. Mostly I pick the nice guy choices, though.
Would you have been able to kill all those people in real life? Even the Security Guard?

His name was Steve he had a family of 5 to support. His oldest son is crippled and his wife has no qualifications and brings in minumum wage.

You haven't just killed Steve, you've killed his family.
I normally kill the family first. It's nice to see the look on Steve's face when he walks in on me urinating on the corpses.

evil. the resources for choosing good have to be pretty damn good to make me choose not to endanger public safety.

I normally am a good guy to video game sprites. I think I was traumatized by ReBoot. You remember what would happen to them when you really killed them? I feel bad about it anymore.

^^^ How I feel ^^^

What I want is a game where you can go the whole time without killing a single thing. Not even a monster or anything.

it depends on the rewards. if there is no reward I will always go evil, I believe humanity is inherintely evil, therefore it is fine to kill it

It depends with me as well. But seeing as in most games, morality doesn't really mean anything (I.E. Fable 2) then I mostly go for good. I only really go for evil for the hilarity factor. Who didn't enjoy smacking that reporter in Mass Effect? :p

Well you're not really all that good if a reward can make you do bad things.

Me I allways go for the "good" choice, but because games allways want balance I end up with better rewards then if I'd been "evil" (which begs the question why do the evil thing?). It would have more meaning and be more fun if doing the right thing was harder and had less of a reward.

Because joining up with raiders to attack a poor village will allways have more of a (instant) reward than trying to protect it.

NewClassic's rant on the subject was a good read.

Then what happens when you've killed off Megaton, Rivet City, and are prepping for an attack on the Citadel at this very moment?
I find satisfaction in killing things in mass numbers. You know how people say its horrific that about 10 or 20 people died in a fire, or similar things like that? It doesn't really leave that much of an impression on me. It actually seems pathetic. Now, when you put the corpse count into the hundreds, you might get my attention. When it goes over the 1000 mark, then I can say that it was either a tragedy, or that the individual who committed such acts must have had a lot of fun.

Still, what damage is done? We have almost 7 billion people on Earth. 1000 isn't much. Lets do some simple math here. Say, that each victim has about 3 members in their family.
3 x 1000 = 3000 total people affected by 1000 people lost. Right now, I'm just assuming that each one of these people was fortunate enough to have a partner and two children. Lets take this into statistics. 25% of the victims had 1 child but no partner, 25% of the victims were single with no children, 25% had children but no partner, and the last 25% had 2 children and a partner. Do the math, and lets see how many people are affected.

It depends on the situation really, and what type of mood I'm in while I'm playing. If I'm in a generally good mood, I'll usually go with the good guy story. However if I'm having a bad day (on in a recent occurrance in Fable II when my brother is around) I tend to be more evil.

Seriously, I built myself up as a great good person in Fable II, then my older brother was watching me play one day and just kept saying "roast the people". I fought it off initially, and then used a big'ol lightning spell on everyone within range and killed about 20 people. My reputaion has never been the same :(

Actually now that I think about it, any NPC with an annoying voice or stupid dialouge usually gets the bullet between the eyes.

Depends on how I'm feeling. Same as in the real world. If I'm in a bad mood I'm inclined to make bad choices. However most of my decision making is pretty irrational anyway. Whatever you feel like at the time.

Although I did make fun of my friend for saving all the Little Sisters in Bioshock.

Well the worst I can get is murdering everyone in the town and making their families watch shortly before I murder them. But that's only when I get bored of being the nice guy.

Strangely enough I'm always good in games, not killing citizens and such. I must empathise with NPC's a lot more than I realise, but I just can't stand to be evil to them.

Even though this will mmiserably quote Yahtzee's opinion, I would always go with the choice that gives the most fun, because that's the only reason I play games for. The good guy options usually don't report half as much fun as the bad guy options. So, even if this means I end up killing half the population of China every time I walk around a corner in, say, Assassin's Creed, something the other half of the population is gonna hate me for (or love me, you never know), I will ALWAYS eat babies before Mother Theresa (miserably quoting Yahtzee again)
