Help with PC

I bought Empire total war for my PC. Got it downloaded with Steam and what not. For some reason my computer can't run it properly. When I try to run it, the background is pink and it lags to hell. I can barely get past the start menu. My RAM is 3 GB so I do not think that is the problem. One of my friends has 2 GB and he can run TF2 just fine online.

Any ideas what is up with my laptop?

Good luck: I've heard that game is amazing. The only advice I can really give is to try messing with the settings, put it on lower performance (assuming you can get to the options menu).

Most games don't work on macs cuz they're sh1t

The pink background sounds like artifacting, it happens when your video card drivers are not up to date or when your video card is not adequate, overheating or malfunctioning. First update your graphics card drivers. If that doesn't solve it, it's probably the video card itself. What kind of video card do you have?

Actually, most games don't work on Macs because the developer's don't make the games for it. Macs are in no way inherently inferior to Windows machines.

Sounds like you need to update your graphics card, or try playing it on the lowest settings. If neither of those work, it's possible your computer isn't fit to handle the game.

Ive gotta say this is the problem with PC gaming in general. It gets a bad rap because people need to have some sort of idea of how to fix potential problems. You are in a hole if you don't know exactly what your hardware/driver set up is at the moment. Drivers are almost always an easy fix for the problem yet a lot of people don't know what they are. I think schools need to start making computer classes mandatory to let people know how to use them and keep them running properly. I will not allow PC gaming to die because of the unwashed masses not knowing how to use computers!!!!

Yeah that's your problem. That will barely run anything. Integrated Graphics are never any good.

Well, if you are using a desktop you could probably pick up an ok card for around £50. Better cards will reach into the £100 range. If you'd like I could suggest some cards for you.

If you are using a laptop your not going to get any further. You can't replace laptop graphics.

Well damn. I guess I will have to use my PC at home to play.

First of all you're going to need to check what type of port your motherboard has. If it's the outdated AGP (I doubt it is) then I would suggest a new PC altogether otherwise you'll need a PCI-E graphics card. As for price I'm from Aus and cards run anywhere from $90-$2k+ depending on how crazy you go.

Just remember that no matter how beasty a GFX card you put in if your CPU can't give it enough bandwidth it will perform worse than a lower powered card. Sorry if that sounded confusing I only woke up 5 mins ago still a bit fuzzy

Well if you're discrediting the usefulness of a laptop, don't. A desktop maybe more powerful, but the portability of a laptop is vital to many people. For instance, I'm a writer and a college student. Both of those absolutely require a portable computer. I may not be able to play some of the latest PC games at full quality, but it's a worthy trade.

Actually, my Macbook is capable of running Crysis. At the lowest setting, sure, but it can run it. The Last Remnant is set at medium/high settings. It can run stuff quite well, really, especially for a laptop. Considering I got it primarily for writing and school, I'm happy with the gaming capability.

I was only joking but tbh, the highest spec graphics card i've seen on a mac(and please correct me if i'm wrong as this was a while ago), it was an iMac with a 9800GT 512MB graphics card onboard and the machine retailed for £1499.99
