Am I the only one wondering if Activision aren't just using the whole exchange rate thing as a smokescreen to cover the real reason for the price hike.

CoD4 is pretty much unique in the UK market for retaining its price. The only other games I can think of that never fall in price are first-party Nintendo titles. If it stays at that price it can only mean that it's continuing to sell at that price. Seems to me they're just looking to find out whether people would pay any more for it.

Problem is that MW2 will sell in the UK regardless of the price hike.

I had to sign up as 5 pages without any pre-order links is astonishing.

£44.99 on Xbox.

£29.99 on PC. Both prices include delivery and Play normally get them to you on launch day, or before in some cases.

The fact is though, we'll all end up paying for games anyway. Retailers will enter into a massive price war with each other which ultimately means that shit'll basically cost the same.

And more people'll desert Game.

But EA as the knight in shining armour? What have they been doing in that Trannsylvannian clifftop castle in the last 2 years?

Unless this game is the electronic equivalent of God, I highly doubt many people will be buying it on release at Christmas. I mean, you could buy three games off Steam for 55 quid and they're going to be charging that price for single games? It's bloody stupid.
Three? You think so small, the Valve Complete Pack costs £52.99.

Ah well, that's a bit lame. Hopefully, nothing will come of it though.

As much as I love my games, I think I'm spending enough on them already. Well, seeing that this is again linked to the economic downturn craze going on at the moment, I guess we can ultimately lay the blame on those greedy high flying banker types...

Now the UK knows the kind of burn that us aussies get when we buy games. With the price sometimes being (at release) $110-120 AU.
Though i have slight fears that it is possible that the price tag of starcraft 2 is going to be $200AU cause of this occurrence. (it was the predicted price tag when i pre-ordered it, even the guy who did the sale was confused why.)

Lies, it has nothing to do with the weak pound, and everything to do with the sweet smell of money.
And taxation, I should imagine.

EDIT:
And don't be surprised if the price is down to what it should be (ie £40 or so) in about a month.

Dear brits.
Welcome to the retail prices we Scandinavians have had for nearly two decades.

Cheers.
