Zanzibar. 45 minutes of awesomeness. Look it up :)

(To any MGS fans - It was real - but Snake, Big Boss and Gray Fox weren't there. Thought I'd make that clear.)

What exactly was the point of the long march?

Maybe looking at an individual battle from within one of the world war? Although they're common knowledge among Australian's, I doubt a huge number of Americans (Stab in the dark >.>) would know about either the Gallipoli Campaign in WW1 (Essentially a screw up that we damn well stuck with for years, until one of the most "successful" military retreats ever), or for a more bad-ass time, the battles along the Kokoda Trail in WW2 have some insane stories within them.
Gallipoli, along with the Somme, is one of the most notorious battles/failures of WWI.

For any history project avoid both the World Wars like the plague, nothing is done more. It doesn't look like you went to too much effort either.

The Russo Japaneses war of 1904 . Japan started the war with a surprise attack and destroyed the Russian far east fleet. In the rest of the year Japan delivered defeat after defeat to the Russians culminating in the naval Battle of Tsushima. The Battle of Tsushima marked the destruction of the Russian Baltic fleet which had sailed half way around the world to get there and it also revolutionized naval tactics. The result in Russia was the 1905 revolution, which failed, but in many ways its was dry run for the 1917 one. In Japan it marked the beginning of the ascendancy of the military. Its an important conflict thats often over looked.

Okay so I have to do quite a large-ish project for history and I was wondering does anyone have any interesting topics?
It should a pretty small timeline, like a few days or weeks, it's not that long lol.
And it has to within, the last two centuries I think.
So anything good?
Edit: it's also helpful if it isn't too well known but still has quite a bit of information available for it.
Edit 2: I have
also been advised to do
something a lot of people arn't going to
do. My friend for example is doing the rape of nan king.
Dave Mustains rise, fall, and rise again, its absolutly amazing and there is a documentery on youtube by vh1 with everything you need.

Napoleons 100 day reign?

Theres also that war the British fought which last like 7 hours/days? Was against a Sultan and war was declared, then the navy shelled his palace and he fled.

The short but glorious career of Simo Hayha, the greatest sniper ever. About 100 days so it should be perfect.

Jack Churchill's role in World War 2.
Oh man if only there was more info on that guy...
He makes me proud to be an Englishman. "any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed."

Hmm...

The 1911 Revolution (China, 1911-1912)
The July Crisis (Europe, 1914)
The Battle of Verdun (France, 1916)
May 15 Incident (Japan, 1932)
The Long March (China, 1934-36)
February 26 Incident (Japan, 1936)
The Battle of Stalingrad (Soviet Union, 1942-43)
Operation Bagration (Soviet Union, 1944)
Kyujo Incident (Japan, 1945)
Hungarian Revolution (Hungary, 1956)
Hundred Flowers Campaign (China, 1956-57)
The Great Leap Forward (China, 1958-61)
Bay of Pigs Invasion (Cuba, 1961)
Cuban Missile Crisis (Cuba, 1962)
Gulf of Tonkin Incident (Vietnam, 1964)
The Tet Offensive (Vietnam, 1968)
Prague Spring (Czechoslovakia, 1968)
Watergate (USA, 1973-74)

I could go on and on... i'll stop now. >_<

I'd personally look at "The July Crisis" initially, but somebody probably is doing that. "Operation Bagration" or "The Battle of Verdun" are excellent if you are into military operations, with Bagration being less commonly done. Lastly, if you want politics that gets really ugly, "Watergate" is your obvious best bet, though the "Kyujo Incident" is not as likely to have someone already doing it.

I've personally done several of these research topics while I was in college. You could find quite a bit about all of them, though some (July Crisis, Watergate) are probably too well-known for what you are seeking, though that does mean there is an extreme amount of information about them.

Hope that helps! :)

It was when the Kuomintang had beaten down the Chinese Reds, and the Communists fled to the North and West to meet up with the Soviets. The most well-known march was led by Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, fleeing from Chiang Kai-shek's superior forces in Jiangxi province. More info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_March

Go for the winter war. everyone loves hearing about the finns destroying the russians. Lots of information on it, the causes, and the consequences. Its basically perfect for a longish in depth report.
