I never have much luck with the Hitman games, but nevertheless I will buy it as I always do, just to see if it's up to much. Either I'll sell it back when I don't get along with it, or it will be one of the most awesome games I've played in a good while now.

Seems all Hitman games tread that line with me.

Every Hitman game has gotten that much closer to perfection, maybe this will finally reach it.
Plus its been 5 years since I planted guns in an old womans suitcase and used them to kill to vice president?

I was expecting to come into this thread and say thanks for getting my hopes up, but I'm glad to say that would be wrong, thanks!

Hitman: contracts... although it is just a rehash of previous levels. Anyways I can't wait for this game! I actually just mentioned it this week in a threat about games that need rebooting. I can't be happier. Here is hoping an on time Holiday 2011 release date.

ah, i don't need that then. I bought the three games on steam but actually never played codename 47. I was trying to figure out which came first, blood money or 47 and picked blood money. after that i couldn't go and play 47 because blood money played so much more smoothly and better.

Oh heck yes. This is the best news I have heard all week. Let us just hope it is just as good, or even better than, Blood Money. The wait to E3 is going to kill me. With Silverballers.

Man this game is going to be awesome (If it's anything like Blood money, we're in for a treat)
I agree. Blood Money was a very intuitive, thoughtfully designed game. However, I would also like to see more exotic locations like in Silent Assassin. I thought they did a better job on the settings there than in Blood Money.
True. But it's been 5 years since BM? I can't even begin to imagine what it's going to look like in comparison.

I'm feeling it's going to be like what Skyrim is to Oblivion.
I can only hope. I know story isn't usually Hitman's strong suit, but I am very interested to find out what happened to 47 after he went rougue.
Haha, I think it was just a case of "See this guy? Go kill him however you want"

I recall my favourite level being the one where you go to a little girls party. Killing her Dad on her birthday = priceless. (In terms of Hitman, I don't condone such action in real life..)
I can only hope.
My favorite was Murder of Crows (I think it's called). The Mardi Gras one.

Woo! I've been missing the Hitman series so damn much. Contracts and Blood Money are such fine games.

Actually, Contracts is a bit more than a rehash... not a ton more, but it changes things up a bit. Basically the story goes that 47 has been shot (you know the Curtain Call mission in Blood Money? As he's leaving the theater, someone dressed in a cop uniform shoots him, that's where Contract's story begins).

He's in his hotel room hallucinating, having flashbacks of previous missions - some which were in Codename: 47, some which are new. Even the re-made missions are different, though, as it's perpetually raining through the entire game, it's always night time, and things have a much darker, sinister tone. Sometimes there even hallucinations in the missions themselves... like the ghosts in the hotel, which despite the shitty graphics, sent chills down my spine and raised every hair on my arms.

Contracts was actually a pretty great game, and my second favorite in the series behind Blood Money, because the dark, foreboding tone fit perfectly.
Ah, does that take place before Hitman 2 then? too bad it isn't on steam though, i might be able to find it on amazon.

you know i have to say that i'm really looking forward to a Hitman game made with todays tech. I always felt that the immersion was tentative at best when the AI bugged out. Reading this thread made me want to go back and finish Silent Assassin and i just had two Islamic (or Arabic, idk) guards follow me around for a full min because they couldn't decide if i was suspicious or not. Just before then i had shot my fleeing target dead in the street and walked up to him and stole his keys. No one seemed to care or want to move him...

So yeah! Lets get some more intelligent AI and with any luck the missions will be even more open and have a great many paths you can take to your target!

You know, some missions they obviously want you to use a sniper rifle, others the plan is infiltration, other times you hide some explosives in a suit case and watch them be brought to the target. I want to see missions with multiple ways to finish them, maybe not have all possible in any given mission, because then you'll just pick your favorite and use that non stop (though maybe that's not a bad thing) maybe each approach could have it's own unique challenges though.

You just made me laugh so hard, you have no idea. I haven't doesn't that mission yet, is that in hitman 2? or am i just confused about when i did that mission in blood money, with the clown and the FBI in suburbia and the strangling his drunk-off-her-ass wife in the bathroom so i could steal her necklace? Cause i don't remember a little girl in that mission. (if there was then shit... i killed her whole family on her birthday)
