So the movie is gonna fail because Hollywood doesn't have total control?

I can't help but feel like this deserves a squinty eyed Fry image.

that one or you have another in mind?

but yeah, it smacks of whining. god forbid a game company want to see a half way decent game->movie transition, and to be honest, I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner i think game company's should have a massive role in the movies based on their IPs, if for no other reason the quality control

keep crying Hollywood, :D cause its funny to me

it's not a bad thing it doesn't come to the big screen. it was quite cineastic as a game, so no need for a major motion picture.

although, done well, with Ubisoft's approval of everything, it might actually turn out quite well; either way, i am sure it will all end well in the... end ^^

I didn't realise (or I forgot) that this movie was in the works, so I'm not too bothered to hear it won't happen.

Apparently Hollywood doesn't know how to make movies either, considering how bad video game adaptations constantly are.

Good on you Ubisoft! I didn't think they'd do this but this gained them one respect point from me.
So, Hollywood refuses to see Ubisoft as capable of making the film? Yeah because all the movie adaptations from games have been so good. Well, the evidence is pretty clear I think, I refuse to believe that Hollywood is capable of making a good movie adaptation from a game. This theory has yet to be proven wrong.

Because Hollywood has proved itself so capable of making video-game movies.
Frankly this just screams to me of a child taking his ball home because he can't play football well enough

Ubisoft just got 10000% more cooler in my opinion. I love that they are trying to honor their products by not having Hollywood mess with it. Sure, this movie might never be made; but I would rather have a movie not be made, than have one that completely bastardized the series.

I hope other video game companies have this kind of balls and integrity in the future.

yes, because God forbid an IP developer cares about what happens to it's baby!

this could also go in the other direction, with Sony being hailed as a pioneer in the fieldand Assassin's Creed allowing video games to stand tall and proud as a niche market to mass market adaptation. it is almost as though Sony has done something similar in the past...

So, let me see if I have this straight. Movie makers, who are fairly notorious at making horrendous movie adaptations of good video games, says that they know how to make a movie adaptation of a video game better than the people that made the video game? Okay then...

Because video game movies were doing just fine under the traditional system.
Yeah, I can't see this being anything but a lateral move in the worst case.

So, Mr. Hollywood analysts, can you tell us precisely why this movie will fail? No? So shut the fuck up.

Ubisoft's live action stuff has been borderline great. If they can make two hours out of it, that's a pass in my books.

Good for you Sony, you need to focus on ruining Spider Man first.
They've already done that, wait a minute do I detect sarcasm? my bad not enough coffee today!
OT, I'm a MASSIVE Assassin's Creed fan, the short films are excellent, but the idea that someone like Uwe could get his grubby little mits on it scared the life out of me. If Ubisoft are gonna keep control I'm far happier!

Now more coffee!

It just tends to be that film adaptations of videogames are always handled poorly either by poor writing and direction (see Uwe Boll) or just a lack of understanding how to make a film (also see Uwe Boll). I've never seen an adaptation I'd call a good film just some that aren't completely horrible (Prince of Persia could have been a hell of a lot worse guys) More time needs to pass for the people who grew up on videogames who truly appreciate them can really get moving in the film industry much the same way with people who read a lot of comics at a young age. Nowadays some of the best films we get are comic adaptations, Sin city, Watchmen, Scott Pilgrim, Kick Ass and none of that is counting any Marvel or DC films.

I know, right? This just reeks of a child screaming and crying about how much a toy sucks, because they can't play with it.
