Its that time again Australia, time to vote for the best song of 09.
For those not in the know, youth radio station JJJ hold a hottest 100 countdown every year. JJJ plays all the (most of the) cool songs that are around. Its the only radio station that I've heard play Tool at 1 30pm.
This is my top 10 songs
Bertie Blackman - Byrds Of Prey
I've seen her live twice and this song has gone off both times =D
Bloc Party - One More Chance
Its Bloc Party with 80s keyboard. Awesome!
Death Cab For Cutie - Meet Me On The Equinox
Tasty tasty indie rock
Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Cash
I was tempted to go for Bonkers but this song has a bit less intense and more mellow.
Jay-Z - D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)
C'mon, Its Jay-Z. The rhyming is fluent, the beat is awesome and the message is clear.
Lady Sovereign - So Human
So catchy!!
Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man
Swearing and Banjo, booyah. I belt this song out every time I hear it.
Regina Spektor - Laughing With
No song this year has given me the chills quite like this one.
Snob Scrilla - Heartbreak Scorsese
One of the most under rated songs and artists of 09. Such greatness.
Washington - How To Tame Lions
I've seen her twice, my friend had played with her, my lecturer has an album with her. The least I can do is vote for her.
What did you vote for?
If you're not in Australia (or don't listen to JJJ) feel free to post your favourite songs of 09.
