And coffee, not only does it stain your teeth, but it inhibits the production of dopamine in your brain. And that's important.
Can you cite this? the stain thing's... eh, but the dope part sounds interesting. Don't really need dopamine for anything to be honest, but would still be interesting to read a medical report on it.
About the dopamine: http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/caff.html

Sorry I don't have a citation for the stains. I figured it was common knowledge and did not require such.

Disclaimer: coffee only produces said effects under habitual use, which I would say is pretty common at least in America.
Well, common sense aint worth jack for it, but I was just saying, I truly don't care about that, just wanted some source on the dope.

Gonna read and get back to you.

PS Neuroscience for Kids, oh, you!
Sorry, that was the wrong link. This one is better: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-caffeine-dependency.htm

This one focuses on the affect of caffeine on adenosine, though it does mention dopamine.
The thing is.. I'm not entirely convinced by the article, it seems to draw up facts from no real basis, no statistics or anything of such. The "white coat, listen to me" thing made me laugh, though.

I'd have thought that dopamine, one of the primary "happy" thingies, would at least be mentioned in the section on depression, but it wasn't even hinted at.

I'm still not convinced this link exists, or is even existant to the point it could ever be a problem. Got anything a little more substantial? sorry to go so far off topic, it's just quite interesting.

"Why is no one allowed to disagree with popular opinion anymore?" The answer's in that word, third from the end - Popular. (Last time I checked, the liking of Bacon and Coffee wasn't exacaly Popular, but hey, we'll roll with it.) The fact is, back when Humans were evolving, the general thought was "Hey, my tribe is doing this, so why don't I?" Any kind of non-social thinking generaly lead to said thinker being eaten by a tiger or squached by a mamoth or something, so we've evolved to be able to conform.
Course, now that tigers aren't a threat, the ability to conform isn't quite as useful as it was - but the general need is. Remember, people in caveman times could seriously gepadise lives with anti-social thinking, so we generaly evolved to be programed to say "Cut that shit out, man."
So yeah, bottom line, it's partly down to Evolution, partly down to social norms, partly down to the fact that even if you don't mean to be forcing your view down people's neck, it can still seem like it, and partly down to the fact that people can be dicks sometimes. It's... a confusing topic, to be sure.

I feel the need to post this

And yes I've been looked at as some crazed lunatic for actually hating the Beatles by many of my friends and straight yelled at that I'm wrong by people who are not my friends.
YES! The Beatles are bloody awful in my opinion and people need to stop saying that they invented rock. What they did in rock was farther from what rockers have done in the forty years since them then even Elvis. Come now people, see the truth.
Not even that people try to argue that they are better musicians than any of the members in The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin when that is just straight up WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!
Precisely my point!!
The only innovative thing they did at all was be the first to put random noises in the background of their music. And that went out of style after the eighties!
Sir I think I found someone I can actually talk too! Though bacon and coffee would not be in any of our conversations because I love them so much even though I know they're killing me.

P.S.Fuck John Lennon.
I can agree with you guys here. Some of the later stuff they did was ok but nothing great. I've always thought The Beatles were one of the most overrated bands.
> The Beatles are overrated
> Led Zeppelin isn't

what
Exactly!!!! Thank you all for agreeing with me on this.
No, I'm saying you're a fucking moron. I guess I was just a little too subtle for you.

The only "innovation" Led Zeppelin brought to rock music was writing shitty, long-winded, repetitive wankfests about elf cities and vikings sung by a guy who'd go on to inspire countless legions of castrated males to start their own metal bands. They're the single most overrated rock band on the planet, and the only reason no other mainstream band before or since has sounded like them is that they're completely fucking awful. At least the Beatles could sing in tune.
Well then, your opinion is one I disagree with but I must mention that I never once have directly insulted a person on this thread, only the views of a general mass of people. Also I have not yet broken and sworn.
> not swearing makes me superior

Hahaha, oh wow.
Look, kid, pad your ego with whatever helps you sleep, I'll just be sitting back and laughing at you for it. And listening to music sung by people who can actually sing.

Is it not the one that in fact has scientific basis and is not held up by the loose assertion that 'it is just the best thing ever.'
Scientific basis? Truthfully, that may well be the silliest reason to have such a personal preference be swayed.

You know scientists have also proven that sleeping and waking up increases your chances at heart attacks because of the sudden change it puts on your heart rate can cause small interruptions of blood supply that can accumulate over time. Do you also not sleep?

Hatred is itself an attractive force - we cherish our hatreds, and keep them close to heart so we can hate them all the more; in a way, hatreds define us, because they are the things we dislike enough to take action about. Which is why you will rarely find me using the term, as it is almost never appropriate. No, I go in for much more descriptive terms - detest (to dislike intensely, treat with contempt), revulsion (intense aversion, a sudden violent feeling of disgust), and loathe (abhor, find repugnant, hatred coupled with disgust) are all dependable standbys which do a far better job of illustrating just how much some things repulse me, infuriate my very core, or actively provoke extreme adversarial reactions from me by virtue of their existence alone.
