How could the Pokemon anime have been improved?

Ok here a few weeks ago I tried to watch this show again (having not watched in about 15 years since i was a little kid) and apart from the first episode (where Pikachu was an asshole and I love that) this show just sucked. I watched the first 3 episodes and couldnt take anymore. While I can't comment on the later seasons quality but judging by this thread I'm not missing out. So I would say to improve it we need to burn it down, start from the beginning and just hire good writers.

I mean, I don't think they really made any claims to the contrary, nor are they really trying to be anything but.

Nothing wrong with that, I just wouldn't hold it to the same standards as "Proper" anime because they most likely aren't writing it for guys in their 20s.

Origins might have been a bit different in that regard, but the main canon? Totally.

I get what you're saying but I still don't think that just because it's a kids thing excuses its terrible quality. For example Avatar was amazing despite being a kids show (I watched it for the first time when i was 22) the older episodes of Spongebob were absolute gold. This is just barely coherent writing to make an excuse for flashy colours on screen.

Improved? More like reboot! The goal of Ash becoming the Pokemon champion is meaningless (it's more like being a champion of a region the way I saw more the seasons) now. Even if he does become champion would be the day it will be cancelled!

You know its sad when Naruto became a Hokage/L33t Ninja before Ash becomes a Pokemon Master/Champion. And I hate Naruto ;P

Now I worry if Luffy ever becomes the Pirate King and take One Piece.
