Me and a friend spent the whole evening the other day playing Gunstar Heroes, which is an awesome game on the megadrive which is really fun in co-op. We completed it even though it was proper hard, and that was on EASY! Games truly were harder back in the day.

We played Golden Axe 2&3 for a while too, but kept killing each other cos of the damn friendly fire in those games!

The original sonic game, i used to blitz through it like a maniac. Much to my families resentment, since they struggled with it. Now alas i can't get too far into it without running out of lives.

Golden Axe. I got through it with A+ rank.. this was when i was 5ish.

I cant do it now without dying on level 4...
I know the feeling. Arcade game at the pizza place circa 1991? I could beat it on one quarter. On MAME now? Good thing I'm not spending real quarters or I'd be out a few bucks a play.

Was that Turtles in Time? I think that's the earliest one I've played.
And it was pretty amazing.

Good god, I can't pass Crash Bandicoot or Super Mario 64 anymore, I used to breeze by them as a kid.

Game was amazing. I still try and play it with friends, even though they hate the idea of the team killing thing.
I think it just adds an awesome challenge.

Oh, goodness, I remember those games. They are so difficult these days.

Anyway:
Mortal Kombat 1/2/3, Super Star Wars, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and Donkey Kong Country for SNES.
Mega Man II for GameBoy.
Tomba! 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Spyro the Dragon 1/2/3, and Rayman for PSOne.

I was good at those games. Now, I can't get very far before Game Over.

The original Ninja Gaiden for NES and Mike Tysons Punch Out.

Not videogame related: Spinning in a circle for a really long time. Now I just get sick.

SOme of the older Megaman games. I spent days and weeks playing them as a child on my SNES, but when I play them now, I can barely get to the bosses, let alone beat the game. Because those are the kinds of old games you had to do in ONE sitting or forever hold your peace.

I ended up finding my old SNES Power Rangers game which I know I had beaten when I was 5. I tried playing it today (I'm 19 now) and I only just got through 3 levels.
Anyway, question is... Have you ever rediscovered an old game that you played to death as a kid and totally mastered... Only to pick it up now and fail more than anything?
Mega Man 1. I beat it at the age of 7, and I can't, for the life of me beat it without using save states now. I can get to the second fight with Fireman right before the last boss... he either kills me, or softens me up so bad that the next boss kills me no problem... and you don't get your weapon powers back when you die, so I called it impossible.
